About this role
Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a talented and self-motivated Site Environmental Program Manager to support the AWS Manufacturing Operations and Transportation Operations (MOTO) DFW/Northlake facility. The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team — an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth around the world, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance and the highest-level environmental performance of AWS’s manufacturing operations.
This role sits within the MOTO Environmental organization and serves as the primary environmental owner for the DFW/Northlake site from pre-construction through full operational steady-state. You will be the on-the-ground environmental authority supporting Manufacturing site activation — managing air quality permitting, stormwater compliance, hazardous materials programs, and construction environmental monitoring while partnering with regional Environmental Managers and the Sr. Global Program Lead to deliver best-in-class environmental performance.
You will collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards of environmental performance for our manufacturing facilities and our customers, and you will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the environmental compliance program for the DFW/Northlake MOTO site from pre-construction activation through full operational steady-state.
- Champion environmental responsibility within DFW/Northlake operations and advocate for best-in-class environmental practices across the Manufacturing program.
- Support leadership efforts and contribute to continuous improvement of site-level environmental programs, ensuring the program evolves to meet changing organizational needs and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the dedicated environmental owner for Manufacturing site activation at DFW/Northlake, coordinating all environmental workstreams from pre-construction through operational readiness.
- Performing due diligence and permitting for new manufacturing faculties.
- Develop new compliance programs for first of a kind operational processes.
- Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy;
- Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization;
- Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards;
- Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance;
- Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;
- Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently;
- Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company;
- Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately;
- Assist in time-critical report submission to various governmental agencies;
- Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.
A day in the life
Day-to-day, this role is the environmental heartbeat of the DFW/Northlake site. During Manufacturing buildout, mornings might begin with a site walkthrough, reviewing contractor erosion and sediment controls and documenting inspection findings. By mid-morning, you are on a call with TCEQ coordinating air permit comments or with the waste hauler scheduling a glycol pickup. After lunch, you are reviewing SWPPP monitoring data, updating the compliance calendar in Cority, and preparing a permit condition tracking report for the Sr. Global Program Lead. By end of day, you have fielded a question from the construction team about a concrete washout location, reviewed a waste manifest, and pushed one more pre-activation item off the punch list. Every day moves the site closer to compliant, operationally ready status — and that is the mission.
