Data Scientist, APAC

Job Description

So, who are we?

IG Group is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.4m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions – built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn’t pivot to innovation; it’s how we’ve always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that’s rare in established businesses.

The bar is high – bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we’ll give you the platform to define what comes next.

Join us at IG – the future gets built here.

Your Team:

This role sits within the APAC Data and Analytics team, reporting into the Head of Data and Analytics, APAC. The team acts as the analytical backbone for the region, partnering closely with commercial, marketing and finance stakeholders across all APAC markets to embed data-driven decision-making. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Your role in the Team’s Success:

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to power commercial, marketing and finance decisions across our APAC markets – Singapore, Australia, Japan and Emerging Markets. You’ll build the models that predict customer value, behaviour and risk, turning data into decisions that shape how IG grows across the region.

What you’ll do:

- Build and maintain customer lifetime value (LTV) models that inform commercial investment decisions across Singapore, Australia, Japan and Emerging Markets.

- Design churn and conversion prediction models to support marketing and commercial teams in targeting and retention strategies.

- Apply clustering and classification techniques to segment customers and surface actionable behavioural patterns.

- Develop sentiment analysis capabilities that turn customer feedback into structured insight for commercial and product stakeholders.

- Partner with commercial, marketing and finance teams across APAC to translate business questions into analytical solutions.

- Present findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders, influencing decisions at pace.

- Own the end-to-end data science lifecycle, from problem framing and data extraction through to model deployment and monitoring.

- Contribute to the evolution of APAC’s data science practice, sharing best practice with the wider group data function.

What You’ll Need:

- Degree in a quantitative field (statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or related).

- 5+ years’ experience as a data scientist or in a similar analytical role, ideally supporting commercial, marketing or finance functions.

- Strong hands-on skills in Python and/or R, and SQL.

- Proven experience building predictive models such as LTV, churn or conversion propensity.

- Practical experience with clustering, classification and other machine learning techniques.

- Comfortable working with cloud data platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS, Snowflake).

- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical output into commercial insight.

- Experience working across multiple markets or regions.
