About this role

-Develop utility-scale and rooftop solar PV plant layouts using AutoCAD, based on provided PV modules, inverters, MMS configurations / trackers, DC/AC ratio and rated power, translating the design basis into accurate, constructible and execution-ready drawings.

-Use PVFarm, PVCase and RatedPower tools to generate array layouts, define DC and inverter blocks, validate plant capacity against rated power, and support layout development within approved assumptions.

-Prepare and refine layouts considering land boundaries, setbacks, ROWs, exclusions, topography, slopes and site constraints, incorporating inputs from topographical, geotechnical, hydrology and other site investigation studies.

-Develop land levelling and grading layouts, by interpreting contour data, defining cut-and-fill zones, coordinating drainage, internal roads and access planning, and aligning with the overall plant layout and block-wise grading philosophy.

-Create integrated array layouts, DC blocks, inverter station, equipment placement, internal road and DC/AC cable routing layouts, ensuring proper spatial coordination, constructability and clash-free design.

-Provide iterative design options and alternative layouts using the provided components and assumptions to support BoQ comparison, cost optimisation and constructability assessment.

-Perform drawing-based quantity take-offs and support BoQ preparation and comparison for PV tables, inverter stations, cable routes, roads, fencing, drainage and associated civil works with different project configurations.

-Apply AutoCAD automation techniques (dynamic blocks, scripts, macros, templates and AutoLISP routines) to improve drafting efficiency, maintain consistency and reduce errors in large-scale layouts.

-Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, compliant and execution-ready designs, and address comments from clients, EPCs and internal reviewers.

-Ensure layouts and documentation comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications and project requirements, while maintaining drawing standards, revision control and design documentation traceability.

-Support contractors, project and site teams during execution through design clarifications, revised drawings and as-built layout updates as required.

### Requirements
Technical & Software Skills

-Strong hands-on expertise in AutoCAD for utility-scale solar PV plant layout and site engineering.
-Hands on experience of PVFarm, PVCase and RatedPower tools.
-Sound understanding of optimising plant layouts, DC block planning, inverter layouts, cable routing and land utilisation.
-Ability to interpret topographical contours, grading drawings and site constraints.
-Experience in drawing-based quantity take-offs and BoQ support.

Automation & Productivity Skills

-Hands-on solar PV layout design engineer, not just a draftsman. Comfortable working on large, irregular land parcels and iterative design cycles.
-Proficiency in AutoCAD automation, including:
-Dynamic blocks and reusable block libraries
-Scripts, macros and drawing templates
-AutoLISP routines (preferred)
-Ability to standardise workflows and automate repetitive drafting tasks for large projects.

Professional Skills

-Ability to work strictly within approved design assumptions and specifications.
-Strong attention to detail with an execution-focused engineering mindset.
-Effective coordination and communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
-Ability to manage multiple revisions, tight timelines and parallel design tasks.
-Strong drawing discipline, documentation clarity and quality awareness.
