About this role
Job Description: DevOps Engineer / Specialist
Role Overview
The DevOps Engineer / Specialist is an intermediate to senior technical role responsible for designing, building, automating, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, containerized platforms, and enterprise deployment infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments.
This role supports application engineering and infrastructure teams by establishing automated software delivery, continuous integration, release management, infrastructure-as-code, and operational reliability. Rather than active software development, this role requires a strong architectural and operational understanding of modern microservices, enterprise middleware, database platforms, and batch scheduling systems—specifically TIBCO BusinessWorks (BW), IBM WebSphere, Oracle DB, Couchbase DB, Java Microservices, and AutoSys —to effectively automate, deploy, and troubleshoot complex multi-tier application ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
CI/CD & Multi-Tier Deployment Automation
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
- Automate build, packaging, release, and deployment workflows for heterogeneous enterprise workloads, including containerized microservices, traditional middleware, and legacy systems.
- Establish zero-downtime deployment patterns (e.g., Blue-Green, Canary releases) and automated rollback mechanisms across distributed application stacks.
Enterprise Middleware & Batch Lifecycle Support
- Support deployment automation and environment configuration for enterprise middleware, including IBM WebSphere application servers and TIBCO BusinessWorks (BW) integration platforms.
- Automate workload scheduling and batch job management using AutoSys (e.g., JIL definition management, job dependency orchestration, and release integration).
- Troubleshoot deployment failures, runtime connectivity, environment variables, configuration drift, and integration points across middleware and batch environments.
Microservices & Container Orchestration
- Manage, standardize, and support containerized Java Microservices running on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes / Red Hat OpenShift .
- Author and maintain Helm charts , Kubernetes resource manifests, and container configurations adhering to enterprise standards.
- Troubleshoot container runtime configurations, JVM memory/CPU resource allocation, startup probes, and service mesh / ingress routing without requiring source code modifications.
Database Deployment & Pipeline Integration
- Collaborate with Data Architecture and DBA teams to incorporate automated database migration workflows into CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain an operational understanding of relational and NoSQL database platforms—including Oracle DB (DDL/DML change execution, connection pooling, migration tooling) and Couchbase DB (bucket configuration, indexing, clustering support)—to streamline schema and data layer deployments.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Configuration Management
- Provision, configure, and maintain scalable infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible ).
- Maintain standardized Ansible playbooks and configuration scripts for middleware configuration, OS-level tuning, and automated agent installations.
DevSecOps, Governance & Compliance
- Embed automated security scanners, vulnerability checks, and quality gates (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, Checkmarx) directly into pipelines.
- Integrate secrets management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault) to ensure secure handling of credentials, certificates, and API tokens across environments.
- Enforce strict adherence to enterprise change management processes, release governance, audit compliance, and access controls.
Monitoring, Observability & Reliability
- Implement centralized monitoring, log aggregation, and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, ELK) to monitor application and infrastructure health.
- Participate in technical triage, root-cause analysis (RCA), and incident resolution for deployment and platform-level outages.
Recommended Qualifications
Professional Experience
- 9–12 years of relevant technology experience with a track record in DevOps, Release Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Automation.
- Proven experience building and operating enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment platforms for complex, multi-tiered enterprise systems.

Databases & Data Platforms
Practical understanding of Oracle DB (automated schema execution, connection pooling, SQL execution tooling) and Couchbase DB (NoSQL concepts, bucket/cluster configurations).
Workload & Batch Automation
Experience with AutoSys job management, JIL script automation, and batch scheduling integration in release pipelines.
Containerization & Orchestration
Hands-on experience with Docker / Podman and Kubernetes / Red Hat OpenShift .
CI/CD Platforms
Proficiency with enterprise pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, Tekton, Harness, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions).
Infrastructure as Code & Config Management
Solid experience with Terraform , Ansible , and Helm .
DevSecOps & Artifact Management
Familiarity with artifact repositories (Artifactory / Nexus), static code/vulnerability scanning tools (SonarQube, Snyk), and secrets management (HashiCorp Vault).
Observability & Monitoring
Experience configuring metrics and log collection using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace , or ELK .
Soft Skills & Leadership
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset with the ability to diagnose multi-system deployment and infrastructure issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interface with cross-functional development, infrastructure, database, and operations teams.
- High degree of ownership, self-motivation, and ability to lead automation and platform improvement initiatives independently.
