About this role

Director / Managing Director, Strategy & Reputation, Campaigns

About the Role

The Strategy & Reputation team works across the full breadth of corporate communications - from campaign strategy and issues management to corporate narrative, stakeholder engagement and sustainability communications. We deliver multi-channel, multi-stakeholder programmes for some of the world's leading companies, working fluidly with colleagues across public affairs, digital, crisis, financial communications and research. Our campaigns capability is a core part of that offer - and an area we are actively growing.

We are seeking a senior campaigns specialist - at Director or Managing Director level depending on experience - to join our London team. The successful candidate will bring integrated campaigns as their primary specialism, the strategic range to operate across corporate reputation, issues and stakeholder engagement, and the commercial instinct to support new business generation. Experience in energy and sustainability communications is a strong advantage. They will work closely with practice leadership to shape the team's campaigns offering and raise its profile in the market.

Seniority level: Director or Managing Director (approximately 8-13 years' experience)
Location: London

What You'll Do

Client Delivery

- Provide senior counsel on reputation management and multi-stakeholder engagement, drawing on a confident read of the media and policy environment, particularly across corporate affairs, to translate complex situations into actionable advice

- Develop and lead integrated campaign strategies that span multiple channels and stakeholder audiences, translating complex briefs into executable plans and taking overall responsibility for strategy, execution and outcomes

- Act as the primary senior relationship holder on a portfolio of key accounts, with direct board-level client exposure

- Proactively identify media opportunities, leverage an established network of senior contacts to generate high-impact coverage and ensure every account operates with agreed project plans and consistent oversight

- Lead the production of high-quality strategic outputs - narrative frameworks, campaign plans, stakeholder maps, and executive communications - and deliver research-driven thought leadership proposals that sharpen client positioning

Business Development

- Identify and convert new business opportunities through a well-developed network of senior client and intermediary contacts

- Lead or co-lead pitches, bringing intellectual rigour, creative thinking and a commercial perspective - with a strong track record of shaping pitch strategy and winning mandates

- Build FGS Global's profile in the campaigns and S&R space through thought leadership, speaking opportunities and proactive relationship development

- Collaborate with colleagues across offices and practice areas to identify cross-sell and referral opportunities

Team and Culture

- Play a leadership role within the S&R team - setting standards, developing talent and contributing to strategic direction

- Line-manage and mentor more junior colleagues, with a genuine investment in their growth

- Champion diversity, inclusion and belonging within the team and in external-facing activities

- Share knowledge, media intelligence and sector expertise generously across the team and wider firm

What We're Looking For

Essential

- Substantial experience in a corporate communications role, preferably in an agency environment, with integrated campaigns as a primary specialism

- Proven ability to design and deliver multi-stakeholder, multi-channel communications campaigns - from strategy through to execution - with clear accountability for outcomes

- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with experience advising at board or C-suite level

- Demonstrable record of winning and growing client relationships, with existing senior-level contacts in relevant sectors

- Strong media relationships across corporate, business and policy beats, and a highly proactive approach to media strategy

- Intellectual curiosity about the world: deeply engaged with geopolitics, business, finance and current affairs - and able to bring that perspective to client briefs

- Experience leading and developing teams, with a collaborative, generous approach to senior leadership

Preferred

- Experience working on energy, sustainability or ESG-related communications briefs - whether as a specialism or as a significant element of a broader portfolio

- Experience building a sub-practice or capability within a firm or team
