About this role

Ready to build low-latency FX pricing and execution models at scale?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

This is a front office Quantitative Development role, part of the Quant team working closely with revenue generating teams. eRisk sits within HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets division and is a key business line responsible for algorithmic trading across FX, FI, Rates and Commodities. The role focuses on turning quant-defined models into production-grade components across the full pricing and algorithmic execution stack. You’ll take end-to-end ownership for architecting, developing, testing and releasing models into production, partnering closely with eRisk Quant researchers and working with sales, traders and technology colleagues globally. The work is hands-on and performance-critical with a strong focus on low-latency distribution and pricing. Success means reliable, safe and well-engineered algos that support high-volume electronic trading and can be delivered at pace through agile ways of working. You’ll also contribute to platform architecture direction and strengthen engineering standards across the team.

What you'll be doing

- Develop algorithmic pricing strategies in Java for eRisk trading applications
- Partner with eRisk Quantitative Analysts to shape algo specifications and deliver production implementations
- Own end-to-end delivery of quant models into production across pricing and algorithmic execution components
- Extend and maintain the algorithmic codebase while embedding strong engineering and testing practices
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to a consistent approach to quality and maintainability
- Partner with business and control functions to ensure algos function safely and correctly in production use
- Assist with deployment of components to development and test environments when required
- Contribute to platform architecture direction and mentor junior developers through practical support and feedback

What we're looking for

- Bring proven experience in FX spot, FI, Rates or Equities algorithmic execution and pricing
- Demonstrate strong Java server-side development capability in multithreaded environments
- Show hands-on experience developing and tuning low-latency systems for high-volume electronic trading
- Apply strong knowledge of trading desk operating models in a large multi-site investment bank environment
- Demonstrate experience delivering enterprise systems through agile delivery of business requirements
- Show practical understanding of Spot FX and Forward FX market conventions
- Produce clear technical documentation and use it to support delivery and operational readiness
- Partner effectively with IT, Production Support and other teams across the bank to deliver and run services

Building the eTrading algo stack

If you want to build and release performance-critical models that directly support pricing, liquidity and electronic execution this role offers genuine end-to-end ownership. You’ll work closely with quants and front office stakeholders to turn specifications into robust production components. The team operates globally and works collaboratively across sales, trading and technology to deliver market-facing capabilities. Apply to help shape and strengthen a platform where engineering quality and trading outcomes matter.
