Scale Clerk

Location: Canton, OH

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Scale Clerk at the Canton, OH location. The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing all inbound and outbound vehicles, inspecting loose loads, directing them to proper unloading areas, and assisting in the details of purchases.

Summary of Responsibilities:

- Maintain a safe, organized work environment through PPE compliance, hazard prevention, and site upkeep.
- Inspect, grade, and ensure the quality of inbound and outbound materials.
- Manage inventory transactions, material coding, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and processing machinery.
- Coordinate transportation activities, including shipments, pickups, deliveries, and related documentation.
- Train and support team members while promoting efficient daily operations.
- Provide customer service by assisting customers and drivers with materials, pricing, and procedures.
- Communicate and collaborate with customers, carriers, management, and yard personnel while monitoring local market conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma/GED and must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience in scrap industry preferred
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and data entry skills
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to follow oral and written communication
- Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects
- Work cooperatively with other employees and the public
- Must be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather.
- Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $28.50 per hour.
