- Perform field testing of concrete and soil to verify that materials meet project standards, codes, and specifications.
- Conduct laboratory testing of concrete and soil samples, following established procedures and industry standards.
- Document field activities, observations, and testing results in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.
- Compare observed field conditions and test results against project plans and specifications, noting any conformance or deviations.
- Communicate field and laboratory testing results to Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management staff, general contractors, and clients.
- Calibrate and maintain field and laboratory equipment in accordance with industry codes and standards.

- Handle and move field and lab samples and equipment, routinely lifting 20 to 40 pounds.
- Work safely in outdoor construction environments and in a laboratory setting, following all site and safety procedures.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience working in the field (outdoors) in construction, farm, environmental, or similar work environments.
- Entry-level knowledge or experience in construction or civil fields, or coursework in construction, civil, geology, or environmental disciplines.

- Effective communication skills, including clear reading and writing abilities.
- Basic math skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability and willingness to routinely lift 20 to 40 pounds to move samples and equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
- If no ACI certification, prior concrete testing experience is required.
- Experience with concrete inspection and use of nuclear density gauges preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or coursework in construction, civil engineering, geology, or environmental studies is beneficial for this entry-level role.
- Construction materials testing (CMT) experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and ISO standards is advantageous.
- One or more active ACI-related certificates preferred, such as Field Testing Grade 1, Strength Testing Technician, or Aggregate Testing.
- Experience using nuclear density gauges in the field is an added advantage.
- Strong interest in building a long-term career in construction, civil, or geotechnical fields.
- Ability to learn and follow detailed testing procedures and calibration protocols.
- Comfort working in both field and laboratory environments, including dirty or rugged conditions.
Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based, with most time spent on active construction sites in and around Glendale, KY. You work outdoors in a hands-on capacity, performing tests and observations in a dynamic construction environment that can involve varying weather conditions and rugged terrain. You also spend some time in an office laboratory setting, which is a busy, dirty, construction-focused environment where concrete and soil samples are prepared and tested. The position is entry-level with training provided, offering a supportive environment for learning and professional growth in construction and materials testing. Appropriate field and lab attire is expected to safely and comfortably work in these conditions, and you regularly handle testing equipment and materials throughout the workday.
