You will define and implement multiple spacecraft subsystems and contribute to all phases of system design and production. The position requires deep expertise in PCB layout, assembly, test, and fabrication, along with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a proven, structured design process. Responsibilities

- Participate in the definition and implementation of multiple spacecraft subsystems, focusing on PCB design and layout.
- Own PCB layout design activities using industry-standard PCB design suites, with a particular emphasis on Mentor Xpedition.
- Contribute to all phases of system design and production, including concept, detailed design, verification, and release to manufacturing.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of PCB design, assembly, test, and fabrication to ensure robust and manufacturable board designs.
- Design high-speed digital and high current density circuits, ensuring signal integrity and power integrity across the board.
- Use schematic capture tools to translate electrical designs into accurate and optimized PCB layouts.
- Manage multiple PCB design projects in parallel, prioritizing tasks and delivering high-quality work on schedule.
- Coordinate and manage 3rd party layout services, providing clear technical guidance and reviewing deliverables.
- Test and debug boards using standard electronics lab equipment, identifying issues and driving corrective actions.
- Participate actively in schematic and design reviews, providing constructive feedback and technical insight.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to integrate PCB designs into larger spacecraft subsystems.
- Support design for manufacturing activities for PCBs intended for deployment in space environments, when applicable.
- Apply knowledge of PCB failure modes and reliability in extreme environments to improve design robustness.
- Contribute to the development of IPC Class 2 and Class 3 boards, adhering to relevant standards and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership to small teams of PCB design engineers when required, mentoring and guiding design activities.

Essential Skills

- 7+ years of PCB layout design experience using industry-standard PCB design suites.
- Recent, hands-on experience using Mentor Xpedition for PCB layout.
- Strong proficiency in PCB layout design, including component placement, routing, and stack-up definition.
- Experience designing high-speed circuits, with at least 5+ years working on high-speed digital designs.
- Experience with high current density PCB designs and associated thermal and reliability considerations.
- Ability to manage multiple PCB design projects in parallel while maintaining quality and deadlines.
- Experience managing and coordinating 3rd party PCB layout services.
- Experience testing and debugging boards using standard electronics lab equipment.

- Demonstrable PCB design process experience, from requirements through fabrication and test.
- Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity considerations in PCB design.
- Proficiency with schematic capture tools and workflows for PCB design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- 10+ years of PCB layout design experience using industry-standard PCB design suites is preferred.
- Experience developing and designing PCBs for deployment in space environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of PCB failure modes and reliability in extreme environments, including space applications.
- Experience as a technical lead for small teams of PCB design engineers.
- Experience developing IPC Class 2 and Class 3 boards and familiarity with relevant standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
- Ability to participate actively in schematic and design reviews, providing clear technical feedback.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics tools and broader PCB layout toolchains.
- Familiarity with HyperLynx or similar analysis tools for high-speed electronic design, including electrical design rule checking, signal integrity, power integrity, and electromagnetic modeling (2D/2.5D/3D EM).
- Understanding of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and its implications for metal removal and precision manufacturing.
- Background in high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power integrity, and general electrical design for complex boards.

Work Environment This position operates in a remote work environment, allowing you to perform PCB design, schematic capture, and related engineering activities from your own workspace. You will collaborate with cross-functional technical teams through digital communication tools, participate in virtual design and schematic reviews, and coordinate with external layout services online. Standard electronics lab equipment will be used for board testing and debugging, which may be accessed through designated facilities or partner labs as required. The role focuses on advanced technologies for high-speed, high-reliability PCB designs, particularly for space-related applications, within a professional and results-driven engineering culture.
