Responsibilities for this Position
The Systems Engineer supports the definition, development, integration, verification, and sustainment of mission-critical Strategic Weapons Control systems. Looking for an engineer who can apply foundational systems-engineering principles to complex, high-reliability systems operating in a disciplined, security-conscious environment.
Under guidance from senior systems engineers and technical leadership, the employee will contribute across the system lifecycle—from requirements development and architecture support through integration, test, verification, validation, and fielded-system sustainment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support systems-engineering activities for Strategic Weapons Control products, subsystems, and interfaces.
- Assist with analyzing customer, mission, and system requirements; help decompose requirements into lower-level functional, performance, interface, and verification requirements.
- Maintain requirements traceability, status, and associated technical artifacts using approved requirements-management tools and processes.
- Support development of system architectures, functional analyses, operational concepts, interface-control documentation, and system design documentation.
- Participate in system, subsystem, and component-level technical reviews, including requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and peer reviews.
- Assist in development and execution of verification and validation plans, procedures, matrices, test cases, and reports.
- Support integration activities involving hardware, software, test equipment, and external system interfaces.
- Analyze test data, document discrepancies, support root-cause investigations, and assist with resolution and regression-test activities.
- Contribute to configuration-management activities, including engineering change proposals, impact assessments, and updates to controlled technical baselines.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, electrical, test, cybersecurity, quality, manufacturing, logistics, and program-management personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve program objectives.
- Prepare clear, accurate technical documentation, briefings, meeting minutes, analyses, and status reports.
- Learn and comply with applicable engineering processes, security requirements, safety practices, export-control requirements, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of program and customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical discipline; degree completion by start date.
- Basic understanding of the systems-engineering lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment.
- Ability to interpret technical information, analyze problems, and develop logical, well-documented solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Proficiency with standard productivity tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required U.S. Government security clearance, as applicable. U.S. citizenship required based on program access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience involving systems engineering, system integration, test, or complex technical systems.
- Experience with requirements-management, model-based systems-engineering, or configuration-management tools, such as DOORS, Jira, Cameo/MagicDraw, MATLAB, Python, Git, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with requirements traceability, interface definition, verification planning, test execution, and technical-baseline management.
- Preferred experience in the following areas:
Systems engineering or model-based systems engineering
- Embedded systems, control systems, or digital systems
- Hardware/software integration
- Test engineering, data analysis, or modeling and simulation
- Cybersecurity or information assurance
- Safety-critical, high-reliability, or mission-critical systems
- Experience preparing technical reports, presentations, test documentation, or design documentation.
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action processes.
Desired Characteristics
- Strong interest in learning systems-engineering methods and working with experienced technical mentors.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a disciplined approach to solving complex technical problems.
- Commitment to accuracy, quality, configuration control, and traceable engineering work.
- Ability to accept feedback, adapt to changing priorities, and continuously develop technical skills.
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to mission success.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office, laboratory, integration, or test environment. The role may require work with controlled technical information and access to secure facilities. Limited travel may be required for integration, test, customer, or field-support activities.
