Teaching Assistant

Position Details: 
Title: Teaching Assistant
Classification: Non-exempt (Hourly)
Reports to: Head of School
Schedule: Full-Time; 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for school events.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university required

- Experience working in childcare, education, coaching, or paraprofessional preferred

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

- Ability to follow teacher direction, support classroom routines, and work effectively as part of a team or independently

- Commitment to student safety, confidentiality, professional boundaries

- CPR, First Aid, and DSS Certification preferred

Duties and Responsibilities: 
Under the direct supervision of an assigned Classroom Teacher and the Head of School, Teaching Assistants will:

- Support the assigned Classroom Teacher with instructional and classroom responsibilities to create a positive, engaging, and student-centered environment

- Reinforce academic concepts and assist students with classroom assignments and learning activities in whole-group, small-group, and one-on-one instruction

- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and other school events

- Prepare classroom materials, organize learning centers, and assist with classroom setup and organization

- Support classroom management using positive behavior guidance and social-emotional techniques

- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other assigned duties

- Comply with all Mason Preparatory School policies and procedures as outlined in faculty, student, and employee handbooks.
