About this role

AM Print Production Operator

About Jetty Extracts:

Jetty Extracts is a premier cannabis extraction company that produces innovative products and world-class cannabis oils, headquartered in Oakland, CA. In 2013, Jetty Extracts began producing extracts and concentrates in San Diego, CA. Jetty is now one of the top extracts and concentrates brands in California.

Starting with a few individuals committed to creating clean, refined cannabis concentrates by the beach, Jetty has evolved into a group of passionate professionals committed to becoming one of the world’s most respected cannabis brands.

While the last several years have seen Jetty grow exponentially, we continue to be committed to craft, working with small farmers, producing the cleanest and tastiest products, and contributing to our communities. As we do so, we continue to support the Shelter Project, the company’s in-house compassion program that has been providing free cannabis oil to cancer patients since 2014.

About the Role:

Jetty Extracts is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Print Production Operator to produce accurate, consistent labels and packaging materials that keep manufacturing and distribution moving. This role manages print jobs from file preparation and proofing through production, documentation, and delivery, balancing quality with changing production priorities.

Reporting to the Distribution Production Manager and working under the day-to-day direction of the Print Room Supervisor, the operator partners with Production, Packaging, Compliance, Distribution, and Brand Marketing to support multiple markets. Technical training and artwork support are provided by print production and design leadership.

The ideal candidate enjoys precise work, takes ownership of equipment and records, communicates clearly, and troubleshoots problems before they affect downstream teams. This is an onsite role at our Oakland, CA facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Print Production & Workflow: Execute daily print priorities accurately and efficiently.

- Review the Print Roadmap, Finished Goods (FG) Log, and current requests; confirm quantities, deadlines, and testing priorities with the appropriate stakeholders.

- Load media, configure print settings and sensors, align guides and rewinders, and monitor registration, color, and print quality throughout each run.
- Coordinate job queues and available equipment to maintain productivity; limit waste and overprinting while meeting required quantities.

Key Responsibilities (continued):

Label Accuracy & Quality Control: Protect product accuracy through disciplined proofing and verification.

- Produce initial proofs and complete required QC checks and approvals before releasing a full print run.
- Verify product and strain names, product type, weight, batch number, market, dates, UPCs, QR codes, and required variable data against approved records and templates.
- Cross-check COAs and the FG Log where required; flag missing information or discrepancies to Compliance or the appropriate owner before printing.
- Inspect output during production, identify and separate defective labels, and resolve quality issues before materials reach Packaging.
- Complete and file QC documentation; use approved artwork and market-specific instructions without making unapproved compliance changes.

Retail ID & File Management: Maintain accurate digital records and reliable, retrievable production files.

- Create or update Retail ID product cards, select the correct market and facility, and map package UIDs to the correct products.
- Prepare Retail ID CSV files and variable-data layouts in BarTender; confirm batch information, dates, and QR code data before production.
- Prepare and preflight files in Adobe Illustrator and other approved tools, including label dimensions, CMYK color, fonts, artwork placement, and barcode layout.
- Archive final approved artwork, editable source files, print files, and CSVs in the correct batch folders using established naming conventions.
- Keep superseded or incorrect files out of final archive folders; record completed jobs, actual print quantities, and status updates promptly in the FG Log and Print Roadmap.

Equipment Care, Inventory & Room Readiness: Keep the print room clean, stocked, and ready for reliable production.

- Complete startup, cleaning, ink circulation, and preventive maintenance tasks according to approved SOPs and manufacturer instructions.
- Monitor room humidity and maintain the prescribed operating range; inspect media paths and remove dust, paper fibers, and residue using approved methods.
- Troubleshoot routine print, software, and media issues within training; escalate equipment faults and stop affected equipment when it cannot be operated correctly.
- Log label stock and consumables at the required point of use, receive and organize supplies, and complete monthly inventory checks; report shortages and discrepancies promptly.
- Complete end-of-shift housekeeping and shutdown checks. Leave printers in their approved standby state, with no paused or unfinished jobs, and document partial counts and outstanding work for the next shift.

Shipping & Cross-Functional Support: Deliver materials on time and support shared production needs.

- Pack labels, dummy packaging, hardware, and marketing materials securely; document shipments, tracking, and pickups in the Transfer Log using the correct company entity.
- Confirm delivery deadlines and obtain required approval for expedited shipping; coordinate pickups and communicate package locations to Distribution.
- Assist Packaging during downtime or as assigned, produce employee badges and other approved materials, and support artwork or process-improvement projects as needed.
- Communicate job status, errors, delays, and supply needs early; collaborate respectfully and follow safety, quality, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications:

- Experience in print production, label printing, packaging, production operations, or a related detail-focused environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and solid understanding of print fundamentals, including CMYK, file preparation, sizing, and registration.
- Comfort using Google Sheets, Docs, and Drive; ability to learn BarTender, Retail ID, printer software, and digital production logs.
- Strong proofreading and quality-control skills, with the ability to identify small differences in artwork, numbers, dates, and product information.
- Practical troubleshooting skills and comfort working with computers, printers, media, and routine equipment maintenance.
- Ability to prioritize multiple jobs, perform repetitive tasks consistently, maintain accurate records, and work independently within established procedures.
- Clear communication, receptiveness to feedback, and a collaborative approach to changing priorities and cross-department support.
- Experience with Roland VersaWorks, GS1/UPC workflows, Canva, or regulated cannabis packaging is a plus; cannabis industry experience is a bonus but is not required.
- Meticulous attention to detail while staying deadline driven in a fast paced production environment.
- Ability to proactively flag any potential problems you identify and take the initiative to find solutions to them.
- You are a team player that is not scared to roll up your sleeves and help out wherever you feel that you can make a positive impact.
