About this role
The Center for Therapeutic Genetics is a non-profit collaboration among the Broad Institute, Boston Children's Hospital, and The Jackson Laboratory. It develops genetic medicines for rare and ultra-rare diseases and aims to make them a repeatable practice rather than one-off breakthroughs. Roughly 8,000 rare diseases affect an estimated 350–400 million people worldwide, and fewer than one in 20 has an approved treatment.
CTG builds on advances in programmable medicines such as base and prime editing, which can be tailored to an individual patient's mutation. Its platform strategy shares design tools, disease models, manufacturing processes, safety data, and clinical protocols across disease programs. This is meant to make treatment faster, safer, less costly, and more accessible.
Position Summary
CTG is seeking an Associate Director of Operations to build and run the operational, financial, and governance backbone of the center. You will connect strategy to execution across the Broad Institute, JAX-RDTC, and Boston Children's Hospital, and serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CTG Director and senior leadership.
Reporting to the CTG Director and working closely with the broader Broad Institute administration, you will set operational goals and drive them to completion across multiple program teams and institutional partners. You will own the CTG operations budget and the partnership infrastructure, and you will use judgment and data to resolve complex, novel problems that may have no existing playbook. You do not need to be a bench scientist, but you must understand the translational space (nonclinical and clinical) well enough to support CTG's work, and you need the business acumen to advance its mission.

- Work with scientific project managers to track program pipelines, milestones, budgets, and timelines, and flag risks to leadership early.
Governance
- Coordinate logistics, materials, and follow-up for the CTG Oversight Committee, Leadership Teams, , and Scientific Advisory Board. Ensure decisions are documented and cascaded to program teams.
- Partner with the Preclinical, Manufacturing, and Clinical Leads to schedule, resource, and escalate program-level governance gates (e.g., go/no-go reviews) to the Governance Committee.
- Maintain compliance with partner institutions' agreed transactional workflows.
Partnership and Alliance Management
- Act as the primary operational partner to founding partners (JAX-RDTC and BCH) and external collaborators. Maintain and refine tri-institutional governance models and attend key operational and administrative working group meetings.
- Draft and advance memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and related agreements.
- Identify, engage, and onboard new partners and resources.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with senior leaders on matters affecting multiple teams. Influence decisions and build acceptance in sensitive situations without damaging relationships.
- Prepare and deliver executive- and board-level communications on progress, risks, and milestones. Develop and maintain business plans, executive summaries, and presentation decks.
- Capture and synthesize partner meeting discussions and drive action items to completion.
- Support coordination with the Patient & Community Engagement Council and patient advocacy representatives on the Board.
- Serve as the interim point of contact for cross-program data and reporting needs until a Head of Data is hired.
- Work across Broad Administration to advance CTG goals.
