Stoa is hiring a Member of Technical Staff to build the backend and data systems behind the platform. The work spans transaction logic, data pipelines and the services that keep records correct under load. Correctness and auditability are the standard.
**Responsibilities**
* Design, build and operate backend services in Python.
* Own data pipelines and the validation that keeps records consistent across systems.
* Ship end to end: schema, service, tests, deployment and monitoring.
* Build internal tooling, including applications on language model APIs.
* Participate in code review and in the on-call rotation for the systems you own.
**Requirements**
* Production experience in Python and SQL, with evidence of systems delivered to real users.
* Disciplined testing practice and a high standard for correctness in financial or transactional data.
* Clear written communication.
**Preferred**
* Experience with payments, marketplaces, trading systems or financial data.
* TypeScript and a modern web framework.
* Experience with language model APIs or agent frameworks.
Location: San Francisco. Remote candidates in US time zones are considered.
