About this role

As a Senior Process Engineer in Reagent Process Development , you will help transform innovative reagent chemistries into reliable, scalable manufacturing processes that support future platform launches and strategic innovation programs. By translating laboratory formulations into consistent, production-ready processes, you will play an important role in advancing product development and delivering diagnostic solutions that help veterinarians improve the health and well-being of companion animals.

Our Roswell site is home to OPTI Medical, an IDEXX company that designs and manufactures point-of-care blood gas and electrolyte analyzers and related consumables for human healthcare. The site also produces electrolyte slides and other consumables that power IDEXX veterinary analyzers, including the Catalyst One® and Catalyst Dx® chemistry analyzers. The products and technologies developed at this site support critical diagnostic testing for both people and pets.

Why This Role Matters

You'll be the connection between scientific innovation and real-world impact. By transforming laboratory-scale formulations into scalable manufacturing processes, you'll help bring new diagnostic technologies to market and support the development of future platforms that improve the lives of animals and their caregivers.

Your work will influence technical strategy, contribute to product development, and support manufacturing readiness for innovative diagnostic solutions.

You'll also join a collaborative team that values curiosity, continuous improvement, and diverse perspectives. We believe the strongest solutions come from people with different backgrounds, experiences, and ways of thinking working together toward a common goal.

In this role:

- You will lead process development, scale-up, characterization, validation, and technology transfer activities for new products moving from R&D into manufacturing, including next-generation diagnostic platforms and novel materials process programs.
- You’ll scale formulations from laboratory batches to production volumes while identifying and mitigating technical risks.
- You will establish process parameters and operating ranges, and develop manufacturing specifications, acceptance criteria, and test methods.
- You’ll design and run process characterization studies, design verification and validation activities, stability studies, and process control strategies.
- You will develop new synthesis and manufacturing processes, from early feasibility through optimization, process safety evaluation, and manufacturing readiness.
- You’ll investigate manufacturing and development challenges using data-driven problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action methods.
- You will recommend, justify, and implement new equipment and technologies that support quality, efficiency, and business goals.
- You’ll develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions, and support training and knowledge transfer to manufacturing teams.
- You will lead and influence cross-functional project teams, build project plans and timelines, and share progress with stakeholders and leadership.
- You’ll partner with colleagues across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, and external supplier and vendor partners.
- You will mentor engineers and scientists and help shape technical strategy and future direction.
- You’ll apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to strengthen process performance and operational excellence.

What you need to succeed:

- You have a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or another related engineering or scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- You have significant experience in process development, scale-up, and manufacturing process design, with a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles and solution formulation.
- You’ve worked on process characterization, design verification and validation, process validation, and change management.
- You’ve designed stability studies, developed specifications, and implemented process control strategies.
- Your skillset includes statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE), and you make data-driven, risk-based decisions.
- You’ve applied troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and process risk assessment methods.
- You have a background in organic synthesis, reaction development, and materials or polymer processing, including process safety evaluation.
- You’ve supported technology transfer and manufacturing readiness activities, including developing SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
- You know ISO, GMP, quality, safety, and environmental requirements, and you can interpret applicable standards, specifications, and technical literature.
- You work well both independently and collaboratively, you’ve led cross-functional teams, and you manage multiple priorities while supporting the growth of junior team members.
- You communicate clearly in writing, in conversation, and in presentations, and you can explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- You’re proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project) and statistical or engineering software such as JMP or Minitab.
