About this role
The Impact of a Manager, Software Engineering at Coupa:
As an Engineering Manager, you will support a dedicated full-stack development team and play a crucial role in building our Business Spend Management (BSM) platform. You will lead from the front, acting as the bridge between product management and your engineering pod. At a technical level, you will jointly drive scaling our platform, finding the right balance between a consolidated codebase and the flexibility of microservices using .NET and React. You are an innovator with a strong bias for action and an unwavering commitment to making your team and our customers successful
What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing agile team of 5–8 full-stack engineers (.NET Core backend, React frontend).
- Technical Guidance: Be a highly technical manager. Lead from the front during problem-solving sessions, reviewing architectural designs, and conducting code reviews to ensure robust, secure, and maintainable enterprise-grade code.
- Delivery & Execution: Maintain a balance between building high-quality products and shipping code fast. Partner with Product Management to break down feature specifications and manage sprint priorities.
- Career Development: Help engineers develop their career plans, provide continuous feedback, and assign project work tailored to their skill sets and aspirations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish trust and coordinate with distributed product management, support, cloud operations, and peer engineering teams.
What You Will Bring to Coupa
- Experience: 3+ years of prior relevant technical lead or management experience. Someone who grew into management from an individual contributor role.
- Technical Background: At least 6+ years of hands-on experience building Saas products. Deep familiarity with C# / .NET Core APIs and modern frontend frameworks like React.
- Agile Mindset: Deep familiarity and experience with agile (scrum) development processes and CI/CD best practices.
- Discipline: Strong commitment to good engineering discipline and process, including code reviews and delivering unit/integration tests in conjunction with feature delivery.
- Communication: Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate functional requirements into technical designs.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
