Senior PCB Design Engineer
Join our team
Join Siemens Healthineers, Molecular Imaging, as a Senior PCB Design Engineer in Bengaluru. This is a fully hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys changing projects. In some phases you will focus on dense layout and routing. In others, you will own the full design, from schematic to production release.
You will own boards across high-speed digital, precision analogue and power domains. Your work covers schematic capture, component placement, multi-layer routing, legacy CAD migration and board-level EMI/EMC design. You will also run circuit and SI simulations, but the focus is on CAD work you do yourself every day.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Xpedition CAD layout and routing: You transition fluidly into dedicated layout phases and personally execute complex, high-density, multi-layer board layouts, controlled-impedance routing, and optimal component placement in Siemens Xpedition.
- Board-level EMI/EMC design: You implement robust layout strategies to mitigate electromagnetic interference and ensure compliance, including return-path management, split-plane isolation, via shielding, and critical trace isolation.
- Multi-domain board architecture: You design across high-speed digital (e.g., length matching, constraint groups), analogue (noise isolation, shielding), and power electronics (high-current routing, creepage/clearance).
- Advanced stack-ups and fabrication: You configure advanced board stack-ups using HDI methodologies, microvias, blind/buried vias, and via-in-pad structures.
- End-to-end design and schematic capture: You own the entire development cycle of complex electronic boards and drive schematic capture within the Siemens environment – defining component choices, establishing electrical connectivity, and setting up initial design constraints.
- Legacy CAD migration: You lead the hands-on translation, database cleanup, and reconstruction of legacy PCB designs and assets migrated from older or alternative CAD software into the Siemens Xpedition ecosystem.
- Library management: You create, verify (multi-attribute), and maintain schematic symbols, cells (footprints), and padstacks within the Xpedition Central Library (.lmc).
- Simulation and verification: You use LTspice for functional circuit analysis during the schematic phase and Siemens HyperLynx for pre- and post-layout signal and power integrity simulations to validate the routing.
- Manufacturing outputs and ECOs: You manage the formal Engineering Change Order (ECO) process and release production-ready packages, including Gerber, ODB++, IPC-2581 files, and comprehensive assembly drawings.
Your qualifications and experience
- You have 5–8 years of dedicated, hands-on, end-to-end schematic capture and PCB layout experience as an individual contributor.
- You are proficient in Siemens Xpedition (formerly Mentor Graphics) ecosystem , including xDX Designer (formerly DxDesigner), Xpedition Layout, Xpedition Library Manager and Constraint Manager. This is mandatory and profiles with only Altium or Allegro etc experience will not be considered.
- You are proficient in LTspice for analogue/power circuit verification and have practical experience with Siemens HyperLynx (SI/PI) for layout validation.
- You have a proven track record of laying out all board types, with deep knowledge of high-speed digital design rules, analogue noise containment, and high-voltage/power layouts.
- You have a deep understanding of DFM/DFA/DFT rules, library configuration control, component mapping, and formal ECO systems.
Your attributes and skills
- You are a versatile, hands on engineer who does well in a fast moving project environment where priorities change with each project phase.
- You have a strong ownership mindset and take full responsibility for your designs, from the first schematic to production release.
- You work independently with a high degree of autonomy and collaborate well with hardware, mechanical, firmware and manufacturing teams.
- You switch easily between focused layout work and full end to end design ownership, and you keep quality and accuracy high throughout.
