Job Summary
Hyve Solutions is seeking a Cisco Network Engineer to design, deploy, and support high-availability network infrastructure across our high-tech manufacturing and warehouse facilities. In this role, you will work hands-on with Cisco Catalyst switching and wireless platforms, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, and critical network services powering real-time production.
The ideal candidate thrives in owning end-to-end deployments, troubleshooting complex multi-vendor issues across Layers 1–7, and collaborating with cross-functional Security, Infrastructure, and Operational Technology (OT) teams to deliver maximum uptime and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Switching & Routing: Design, configure, and maintain Cisco Catalyst 9500 (distribution) and Catalyst 9300 (access) switches, managing VLANs, trunking, STP, redundant fiber uplinks, LACP, and core routing protocols (BGP/OSPF).
- Wireless Infrastructure: Deploy and optimize Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers and access points. Manage RF site surveys, SSIDs, policy profiles, policy tags, and enterprise wireless coverage tailored for high-density office and warehouse environments.
- Network Access Control (NAC): Manage Cisco ISE authentication and authorization policies for wired and wireless infrastructure. Troubleshoot RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X, MAB, iPSK, device profiling, and automated endpoint onboarding.
- Perimeter & Internal Security: Administer Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, managing security policies, address objects, policy-based routing, interface mapping, change management, and High Availability (HA) failover clusters.
- IoT & Manufacturing Connectivity: Architect and troubleshoot resilient connectivity for operational devices, including industrial handheld scanners, print servers, automated tools, PLCs, and single-board computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi). Direct VLAN segmentation and firewall policies for IoT endpoints.
- Incident Response & Operations: Lead Tier 3 escalation for Layer 2/3 network incidents—resolving routing loops, spanning-tree topologies, asymmetric traffic paths, interface errors, physical Layer 1 faults, and application degradation.
- Cutover & Change Management: Execute network migrations and hardware cutovers during approved maintenance windows, producing comprehensive execution plans, validation scripts, rollback procedures, and stakeholder updates.
- Documentation & Standards: Maintain precise network topology diagrams (Visio/Lucidchart), switch/firewall configuration templates, IPAM databases, and operational troubleshooting runbooks.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade campus and data center networks.
- Cisco Ecosystem: Deep proficiency with Cisco Catalyst 9k switching, Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers, and fundamental L2/L3 routing and switching protocols.
- Security & Firewalls: Practical experience configuring, troubleshooting, and administering Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
- Identity Management: Working experience with Cisco ISE or comparable Network Access Control (NAC) platforms (e.g., Aruba ClearPass, Forescout).
- Cross-Domain Troubleshooting: Proven capability to isolate root causes across physical cabling, RF/wireless, switching, routing, authentication, and security policy boundaries during operational outages.
- Communication: Exceptional technical documentation and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical details to non-technical operational leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data Center Architecture: Experience with Cisco Nexus switches, VXLAN/EVPN fabrics, or Cisco HyperFabric solutions.
- OT & Warehouse Systems: Background supporting operational technology (OT), industrial IoT, manufacturing, or automated logistics environments.
- Monitoring & Automation: Hands-on experience with packet analysis tools (Wireshark), enterprise monitoring platforms (SolarWinds), and network automation using Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.
- Certifications: CCNP Enterprise, Fortinet NSE 4/5/6, or equivalent practical expertise.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
