About this role

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

The Opportunity

This role is based in Edinburgh to join Securities Services as an Associate Director in a senior risk and control role supporting the oversight and execution of the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) framework across Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee. Working within the 1LoD you’ll partner closely with the Securities Services NFR and COO organisation, Risk and Control Owners and Risk Stewards across business, operations and technology. The focus is on identifying, assessing and monitoring risk early so issues are prevented rather than managed after the fact. You’ll bring risk and control insight into product development and change delivery from initiation through implementation. Success means clearer governance and reporting, stronger and timelier RCA updates and sustainable remediation with fewer repeat incidents.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

What you'll be doing:

- Shape delivery of the Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee NFR agenda with senior stakeholders
- Provide end-to-end oversight and constructive challenge across business, operations and technology processes to prevent risks becoming issues
- Coordinate risk and control activity for regulatory and audit-related engagements, advising stakeholders and escalating where needed
- Embed NFR requirements into product development and change delivery including control design, testing evidence, go-live readiness and post-implementation assurance
- Partner with Product, Technology and Operations to simplify and automate controls to improve effectiveness, customer outcomes and operational efficiency
- Execute Risk Management Framework activities including policy and assurance, governance and reporting and risk appetite monitoring
- Strengthen assurance and monitoring through OKR, KPI and KRI tracking and thematic reviews aligned to the risk profile
- Manage incident and issue activity by supporting identification, escalation, remediation tracking and evidence packs for sustainable fixes

What we're looking for:

- Bring strong understanding of Securities Services across Funds Administration, Middle-Office, Transfer Agency and Trustee or equivalent end-to-end products and processes
- Demonstrate proven experience in Business Management, Audit, Risk and/or Control roles within a global financial institution across multiple stakeholders and functions
- Influence and align stakeholders across geographies and across Product, Operations and Technology by communicating clearly in writing and verbally, providing constructive challenge and managing multiple deliverables through structured prioritisation and attention to detail
- Show experience supporting material remediation under senior management attention and delivering outcomes to clear timelines
- Use data and MI to interpret trends, generate insight and translate findings into practical actions and sustainable control improvements, including clear documentation and evidence
- Apply experience of AI or advanced analytics in a risk and control environment by setting appropriate governance, maintaining audit-ready documentation, producing testing evidence and designing effective BAU controls or demonstrating equivalent hands-on experience

Strengthening Securities Services NFR

This role offers the scope to improve how risk is understood, governed and acted on across a complex Securities Services environment. You’ll help build clearer, more actionable risk appetite monitoring and strengthen the quality and timeliness of RCA updates and governance MI. By embedding risk into change delivery and supporting control simplification and automation you’ll help reduce late-stage control gaps and repeat incidents. If you’re looking to apply risk and control expertise where it directly improves customer outcomes and operational performance we’d like to hear from you.
