About this role

PCB Designer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced PCB Designer to design complex, high-reliability printed circuit boards for aerospace and avionics products. This is a hands-on design role focused on high-speed, multilayer PCB layout, signal and power integrity, rigid-flex/HDI designs, and EMI/EMC performance. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to take PCB designs from schematic and initial layout through prototyping, qualification, and production.

What Youll Do

- Design complex multi-layer PCBs for high-speed digital, analog, RF, and power applications
- Perform PCB layout using Altium Designer and/or Cadence Allegro/OrCAD
- Apply signal integrity and power integrity principles throughout the design
- Route high-speed interfaces using differential pairs, impedance-controlled traces, length matching, and propagation delay considerations
- Design and support rigid-flex and HDI PCB technologies
- Review and develop electrical schematics
- Design for EMI/EMC and ESD protection
- Address thermal, mechanical, packaging, and manufacturability constraints
- Create complete PCB fabrication and assembly packages, including Gerber, ODB++, drill files, drawings, and BOMs
- Support prototype builds, board bring-up, debugging, testing, and design iterations
- Partner with manufacturing and SMT production teams to resolve build and producibility issues
- Perform root cause analysis on PCB-related failures and implement corrective actions
- Maintain PCB libraries, components, footprints, and design templates
- Participate in and provide technical guidance during design reviews
- Ensure designs comply with applicable IPC and aerospace quality standards

What Were Looking For

- 8+ years of PCB layout/design experience, ideally supporting aerospace, avionics, defense, or other high-reliability electronics
- Advanced experience with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, and/or OrCAD
- Strong experience with multi-layer and high-speed PCB design
- Knowledge of: Signal integrity and power integrity
- Differential pair routing
- Controlled impedance
- Length matching
- EMI/EMC and ESD

- Experience designing rigid-flex and/or HDI circuit boards
- Strong understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and SMT manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of relevant IPC standards, such as IPC-2221, IPC-7351, and IPC-A-600
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and manufacturing documentation
- Experience designing around thermal and mechanical constraints
- Experience working within AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality environments is highly desirable
- Associate degree, PCB design certification, technical education, or equivalent professional experience
