About this role
Avenga is an international engineering firm helping businesses operate with AI at the core. With 6,000+ experts worldwide, we combine engineering expertise with AI-native thinking to turn ambitious ideas into real-world impact across industries, technologies, and markets.
At the core of the role
We are looking for a Director of Business Consulting Manufacturing (f/m/x) to bring deep manufacturing expertise to our Industrials business and help clients turn AI opportunities into measurable operational value.
As our manufacturing subject matter expert across the UK and DACH, you’ll work closely with account, pre-sales, and delivery teams and engage directly with operations and plant leaders. You’ll shape practical, outcome-focused solutions around digital twins and simulation, predictive maintenance, OEE improvement, and AI-enabled operations.
This Principal-level role combines manufacturing expertise, business consulting, and solution shaping. You’ll work alongside the teams that own our client relationships, developing new opportunities and turning complex operational challenges into solutions that work in practice.
Reporting to the SVP Industrials, the role can be based in Germany or the UK , with hybrid working and regular travel to client sites across both markets.
Core skills you’ll bring
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations or digital manufacturing transformation, including experience within IT services or consulting.
- Hands-on experience with AI in manufacturing, including predictive maintenance, GenAI-supported maintenance and troubleshooting, simulation, or digital twins.
- Strong knowledge of plant operations and KPIs such as OEE, MTTR, downtime, maintenance planning, and quality.
- Good understanding of the shopfloor IT/OT landscape, including MES, SCADA, IoT platforms, and ERP integration.
- Ability to turn manufacturing use cases into business cases with measurable outcomes and realistic, phased scopes.
- Pre-sales experience across client workshops, solution design, proposals, and RFP responses.
- Confidence engaging with senior operations stakeholders, including plant managers, Heads of Operations, and COOs.
- Program delivery experience and an understanding of what it takes to turn proposals into successful implementation.
- Fluent English and German, enabling you to work confidently with clients across the UK and DACH region.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse or physical AI.
- Experience sharing industry expertise through talks, articles, videos, or other thought-leadership formats.
The impact you'll create
- Lead client discovery to identify and qualify high-value AI use cases across manufacturing operations.
- Shape our manufacturing offerings together with the vertical lead and delivery teams, focusing on digital twins and simulation, predictive maintenance, OEE improvement, and AI-enabled operations.
- Bring manufacturing expertise to supply chain optimisation and agentic back-office solutions.
- Develop outcome-based propositions with clear KPIs, measurable value, and realistic implementation paths rather than role-based staffing.
- Shape manufacturing content for proposals and RFP responses in close collaboration with pre-sales and delivery teams.
- Turn ideas into tangible solutions by developing demos and proofs of concept with delivery teams and technology partners.
- Support key manufacturing accounts with industry insights and relevant use-case roadmaps.
- Build commercial opportunities against an overlay revenue target while partnering with account owners and Account Development Managers who retain ownership of client relationships.
- Share your expertise at industry events and client roundtables and contribute thought leadership on AI in manufacturing.
