The role
The Creative Studio at SoFi is looking for a talented interactive designer to join our best-in-class in-house agency and deliver exceptional digital experiences for our rapidly growing brand.
You’ll partner with web producers, project managers, copywriters, and art directors to design beautiful, engaging, and functional landing pages for SoFi.com across desktop web and mobile.
We’re looking for someone who is driven, forward-thinking, and nimble enough to collaborate with your creative partners on messaging as well as visual design. You’ll be joining a supportive, fun team culture of creative people excited to come to work every day in order to help people get their money right.
What you’ll do:
- Lead end-to-end concepting, design, and production for complex marketing landing pages and digital experiences across SoFi.com.
- Translate ambiguous or complex briefs into thoughtful, effective, and visually compelling design solutions that balance user needs, business objectives, brand expression, accessibility, compliance, and technical feasibility.
- Establish clear design direction and influence project strategy from early exploration through launch, helping teams make informed decisions and navigate trade-offs.
- Partner closely with web producers, engineers, copywriters, art directors, product marketers, product designers, researchers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality experiences.
- Apply strong conceptual thinking, UX principles, responsive design, and interaction design to create intuitive experiences across desktop and mobile.
- Shape and evolve SoFi’s digital visual language by developing new layouts, patterns, components, and design system contributions that improve consistency, scalability, usability, and brand expression.
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and business performance through testing, iteration, analytics, and performance-informed design decisions.
- Champion the SoFi brand and help define how SoFi’s brand narrative is expressed across digital touchpoints.
- Present design work, rationale, and recommendations clearly to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, and facilitate productive feedback and decision-making.
- Provide thoughtful creative direction and mentorship to other designers, helping raise the quality and consistency of the team’s work.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities throughout the design process and communicate recommendations, trade-offs, and next steps.
- Own design quality and QA with minimal oversight, ensuring work is consistent, functional, responsive, accessible, and aligned with brand, business, compliance, and technical requirements.
- Contribute to team processes, standards, and best practices that improve the way we design and deliver work at scale.
What you’ll need:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in visual design, interactive design, UX, or a related field, with a strong focus on digital and web experiences.
- A track record of independently leading complex design projects or programs from strategy and concept development through launch.
- Strong conceptual thinking and a demonstrated understanding of UX principles, information hierarchy, responsive design, accessibility, and mobile-first design.
- Proven ability to translate ambiguous problems and varied briefs into clear design strategies and effective web experiences.
- Experience balancing creative ambition with business goals, customer needs, technical constraints, compliance requirements, and performance considerations.
- Strong visual design and craft skills, including composition, typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and interaction design.
- Demonstrated ability to apply, extend, and evolve brand visual styles within established design systems and frameworks.
- Experience contributing to or helping build scalable design systems, reusable patterns, web components, or other design standards.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale, strategy, vision, and trade-offs to both creative and non-creative audiences.
- Proven ability to build trust, influence decisions, and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make informed decisions in fast-moving and evolving environments.
- Ability to provide creative direction, mentorship, and constructive feedback to other designers and partners.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to the broader team’s success.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects with competing timelines while maintaining a high level of quality.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design and prototyping tools.
- A strong, well-rounded portfolio that demonstrates sophisticated visual and interaction design, strategic thinking, systems thinking, collaboration, and measurable impact.
Nice to have:
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, design tokens, content management systems, and other technical concepts relevant to web design.
- Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, analytics, accessibility, SEO, or performance-driven design.
- Experience designing for financial services, fintech, e-commerce, or other complex, highly regulated industries.
- Experience with motion design and interactive prototyping, including tools such as After Effects, Rive, or similar.
- Experience working within an established design system or partnering closely with engineering teams to bring reusable components to life.
