Job Description Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant, to manage our financial records and oversee our accounting operations.
The incumbent will be supporting our Short Term insurance business, therefore experience in short term insurance is vital.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our financial data, drive compliance with statutory regulations, and provide valuable insights to support strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve journals entries, reconciliations and accounting transactions.
- Monitor and manage investment performance, providing analysis and recommendations to optimize returns.
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual reporting according to IFRS 17.
- Support the AFM in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts according to IFRS 17.
- Support in the preparation of quarterly and annual regulatory returns and respond to ad hoc regulatory information requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all tax-related submissions.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis.
- Cash flow management to ensure the business has sufficient liquidity to meet operational expenses.
- Timely and accurate reconciliation (identified through the lead schedule list) of all balances within the trial balance.
- Carry out any adhoc instructions from the GFM and AFM as and when these arise due to changes in circumstances within the finance function or the business.
- Prepare management accounts.
- Support both internal and external audit process.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Degree in Finance or Accounting and partly qualified Accountant required.
- Certificate of Proficiency (COP) Short-Term Insurance preferred.
- At least 3 or more years’ previous work experience in another financial role.
- Short Term insurance experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of IFRS17 standard.
- Client or stakeholder management.
- Proficient in excel

- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
