About this role

Job Location

- Montreal, QC

The Strategic Sourcing Advisor is responsible for the commercial strategy and management of a portfolio of high-impact spending categories and strategic partners that support all divisions and subsidiaries. From market strategy development and negotiations to project support, as well as relationship and dispute management with key supplier and subcontractor executives, this role plays a central part in how the organization procures, collaborates with the market, and creates value.

Leveraging strong construction industry experience, the Strategic Sourcing Advisor bridges procurement strategy, internal governance, and project realities. The incumbent leads initiatives end-to-end, from analysis through to final recommendations, and works closely with the manager on strategic direction and decision-making. The role is structured around three core areas: (i) strategy and business development, (ii) project procurement strategy, and (iii) supplier and specialized contractor relationship management.
What you will do

• Define and implement category strategies by leveraging market knowledge and a deep understanding of project realities.
• Be accountable for the performance of your category portfolio and the value it generates for the organization.
• Lead high-stakes commercial and contractual negotiations with senior executives, from strategy development through contract execution.
• Contribute to the evolution of procurement practices across the organization and serve as a subject matter expert within the team.

i) Strategy and Development

• Identify, structure, and negotiate new agreements within your portfolio based on specialized trade contractor market knowledge and market analyses you develop.
• Build category strategies by assessing market trends, supplier capacity, and supply risks, and drive adoption among stakeholders.
• Enhance procurement methodologies, contractual tools, and best practices for the benefit of the broader team.
• Act as a resource for colleagues on project realities, specialized trade contractors, and contracting models.

ii) Project Support

• Advise and support project teams in developing procurement strategies, including purchasing plans, package structuring, and negotiations.
• Generate and convert procurement opportunities into measurable savings by engaging internal and external stakeholders.
• Foster alignment among project teams and business units around procurement strategies through strong field credibility and influence.

iii) Supplier and Subcontractor Relationship Management

• Manage relationships with key suppliers and specialized trade contractors within your portfolio by acting as the primary point of contact, anticipating challenges, resolving issues independently, and escalating strategically when required.
• Lead the renewal and renegotiation of strategic agreements, from performance analysis through final recommendation.
• Support the resolution of commercial disputes on high-profile projects (claims, commercial terms, payment delays, etc.) and negotiate solutions that protect both business value and long-term relationships.
• Maintain rigorous financial oversight of your portfolio, including forecasting, financial tracking, and risk mitigation, to secure negotiated value.

This role could be for you if you have

• A degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of project management experience within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of the specialized trade contractor and construction supplier market.
• A solid understanding of key contract delivery models and their impact on risk allocation.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to structure information, develop sound recommendations, and address underlying business needs.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with project teams, suppliers, and specialized trade contractor executives.
• A high level of autonomy and accountability, demonstrated through sound judgment, proactive risk management, and a collaborative mindset.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken.

Assets

• Demonstrated experience negotiating major contracts with specialized trade contractors or suppliers.
• Experience working on large-scale projects or collaborative delivery models (PPP, IPD, Alliance, etc.).
