About this role
# Job Description Summary
The energy systems powering the world are being redesigned — and you could be part of that work. As a Lead Engineer for Accessories Instrumentation, you will own the electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design of upgrade and retrofit packages for gas turbine (GT), steam turbine (ST), and generator accessory systems. Your designs will directly influence system performance, field reliability, and the quality of solutions delivered to customers around the world.
This is a role for someone who finds energy in technical complexity, takes ownership of their work end to end, and wants to build expertise at the intersection of global engineering standards and cutting-edge power generation technology.
Job Description
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver detailed instrumentation schematics, wiring diagrams, conduit arrangements, and bills of materials (BOM) to support accessory system upgrades and modifications across gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators.
- Integrate electrical and instrumentation systems with GE Vernova control hardware for accessory systems including lube oil, ventilation, hazardous gas detection, inlet and exhaust systems.
- Interpret and apply national and international codes and standards — including IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), NEC (National Electrical Code), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), IECEx, and ATEX — to ensure safe and compliant designs in hazardous environments.
- Execute engineering tasks across project lifecycle stages — from initial technical offer (ITO) through order-to-remittance (OTR) — including product lifecycle management (PLM) deliverables, supplier deviation requests (SDR), engineering requests (ER), and non-conformance reports (NCR).
- Collaborate with lead engineers, technical leads, project managers, and sourcing teams across global locations to deliver complex projects on time and to quality standards.
- Contribute to standardization and cost-reduction initiatives that improve the competitiveness of GE Vernova's product and service portfolio.
Who We're Looking For
You are an electrical or instrumentation engineer with a strong foundation in industrial power generation systems, a collaborative mindset, and the technical confidence to take ownership of your designs from concept through to field execution.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
- Significant experience in E&I system design for industrial gas or steam turbine and generator applications.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards for hazardous area installations (IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, ATEX or equivalent).
- Ability to develop complete wiring, loop, and schematic diagrams using established electrical design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred
- Field experience on GE Vernova or Alstom GT/ST/generator platforms.
- Familiarity with engineering tools used for E&I design (e.g., cable management, instrument calibration, schematic design tools).
- Experience working in or with globally distributed engineering teams.
