About this role
About the Alcohol Policy Program:
Alcohol contributes to millions of deaths globally each year and to substantial negative impacts on health, well-being, and global development. Vital Strategies works with governments, civil society organizations, researchers and public health leaders to implement three alcohol best-buy policies from the World Health Organization’s SAFER technical package to reduce alcohol-related harm: increasing taxation, regulating availability and restricting marketing. These policies are the most impactful — and cost-effective — way to reduce alcohol consumption. Our alcohol policy flagship initiative RESET Alcohol primarily works toward the adoption of higher alcohol taxes in partner countries. Our approach enables collaboration among partners across five effective key areas for public health policy change: advocacy, economic and epidemiological research, legal analysis, policy monitoring and strategic communication.
Job Purpose:
RESET Alcohol supports governments, research and civil society organizations in 20+ countries to raise alcohol taxes. The Program Officer will support the Managing Director and RESET Alcohol team with overall program coordination, project logistics, and administration.
