About this role

Apple's Hardware Technologies team develops the innovative displays that define our products and delight our customers worldwide. The Panel Technologies team is at the forefront of developing display technology that pushes the boundaries of what's possible. Join our team and help create the generation of display experiences that will wow customers around the globe!
Our work centers on the intricate relationship between OLED (organic light-emitting diodes) and thin-film transistor backplanes in modern displays. These complex interactions require deep technical understanding and innovative solutions. As a Display Technologist on our team, you will be participating in display design process and algorithms development that enable breakthrough display technologies while ensuring both performance and reliability.

This role requires someone who thrives on complex technical challenges without precedents. You will need understanding of sophisticated electro-optical systems and translate that knowledge into practical design and algorithmic solutions. This position breaks down multifaceted display physics problems into solvable components and implementing solutions that balance cutting-edge performance with product longevity.
Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving are essential. We require expertise in thin film wave optics and geometric optics, combined with data processing and visualization capability and statistical frameworks to extract meaningful insights from complex display performance datasets.
Collaboration is key to success in this role. Candidate will be expected to collaborate closely not only with other Display Engineering teams, but also teams outside the Display Engineering such as Silicon design, Software Engineering, and manufacturing partners. Communicating technical findings to various audiences is needed while translating complex concepts into actionable engineering decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Optics, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering
Experience in Python and MATLAB for large-scale data collection and analysis
Experience in thin film wave optics / geometric optics modeling

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD degree
Deep understanding of OLED device principles
Experience with the latest consumer electronics display technologies
Ability to communicate technical problems and challenges clearly and effectively across cross-functional organizations
