About this role

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Build Engineer to lead the electrical build and integration effort for our maritime Autonomous Service Vessels. This highly cross-functional role bridges electrical engineering, EWIS, mechanical engineering, and production teams to ensure vessel electrical systems are successfully integrated, tested, and delivered from development through full-rate production. Your focus will be on owning vessel-level electrical integration, developing build and test strategies, ensuring harness and EWIS designs are organized and buildable, troubleshooting electrical issues, and driving successful installation and verification of electrical systems throughout the vessel build.

Responsibilities:

- Own electrical and harness integration for assigned Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs), coordinating electrical systems from design through installation, test, and vessel commissioning.
- Define electrical verification activities at key build milestones to identify integration issues early and reduce troubleshooting late in the build cycle.
- Maintain vessel-level EWIS CAD organization, ensuring harness routing, interfaces, configuration, and installation documentation are accurate, organized, and buildable.
- Review electrical and EWIS engineering packages to ensure designs are ready for production and identify integration, accessibility, routing, or installation concerns before they impact the build.
- Support troubleshooting of vessel electrical systems, including harness connectivity, power distribution, communications, sensors, actuators, electronics, and system-level integration issues.
- Support electrical checkout, device bring-up, and verification activities, including pin-to-pin checks, continuity testing, power-up testing, functional system testing, firmware flashing and configuration, and integration of COTS, MOTS, and custom electrical/electronic devices.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineering and EWIS teams to define and implement brackets, clamps, penetrations, mounting provisions, cable-management features, and other mechanical interfaces required for successful harness installation and retention.
- Identify and resolve non-conformances, lead root cause analysis, and drive resolution via IRBs (Issue Review Boards) and rework plans.
- Lead and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)—ensure traceability, communication, implementation, and verification
- Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions for new and existing vessel concepts
- Support documentation, technical writing, and preparation of reports for internal use, regulatory bodies, and client presentations.
- Manage CAD models to document changes made during ship construction
- Support sea trials and at-sea testing of ASVs as needed

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of electrical system integration, including power distribution, wiring, harnesses, connectors, sensors, actuators, and electronic equipment.
- Experience interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, interconnect diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting and test methods, including continuity testing, pin-to-pin verification, power-up testing, and system-level fault isolation.
- Experience with electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS), including harness routing, installation, termination, protection, support, and documentation.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD and electrical routing tools used to define harness routing, mechanical interfaces, and installation requirements; experience with Siemens NX or similar systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with maritime industry standards, including ABS and U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
- Experience working in a shipyard or onboard ships
- Strong communication skills across engineers, technicians, production teams, quality teams, and leadership.
- Comfortable working in an industrial shipyard environment

Physical Demands

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing and walking within the office
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
- Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
- Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
