About this role

If you have a keen eye for the big picture, enjoy working collaboratively, and have experience in the US Military, US Department of Defense, or Aerospace & Defense industries, we may have the perfect role for you! The Senior Technical Trainer is a highly experienced role responsible for the advanced development, design, and implementation of cutting-edge technical content and training materials for both internal and external customers. This position involves delivering on-site and remote client support by providing expert training programs and advising on technical training materials. The Senior Trainer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure training programs are effective and aligned with long-term organizational goals.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

- Discovery of needs and planning Engage technical implementation teams and technical leaders early in the capability lifecycle to understand what is being delivered, who it affects, and what behavior change or proficiency is required.
- Interpret informal or incomplete requests, define the real training need, and turn it into a scoped plan with clear audiences, learning outcomes, timelines, and success measures.
- Maintain a forward-looking training roadmap aligned to the capability delivery pipeline, so training is ready when the capability is.

Training design and delivery

- Design, develop, and deliver training for new systems, enhancements to existing systems, and new technologies. Formats include instructor-led, hands-on labs, job aids, quick-reference guides, demos, and self-paced content.
- Develop and deliver training on emerging technologies, including XR and AI. This includes practical, role-based use cases and responsible-use guidance as well as awareness-level content.
- Tailor content and delivery to different audiences, from experienced engineers to mission operators to non-engineering staff.
- Build repeatable, maintainable training assets that scale beyond one-time sessions and stay current as systems evolve.

Cross-functional partnership

- Work with program and product line teams to align training to operational needs, schedules, and constraints.
- Coordinate with corporate L&D and trainers in other areas to align with enterprise learning standards, platforms, and curriculum, and to avoid duplicate effort.
- Work with Corporate IT and Cybersecurity so training environments, access, tools, and secure-use practices are in place and reflected in content.
- Engage non-engineering disciplines to extend capability understanding and adoption beyond the engineering community.

Execution and outcomes

- Own training initiatives from intake through delivery and follow-up, managing priorities, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations across multiple concurrent efforts.
- Define and track measures of effectiveness, such as completion, proficiency, adoption and usage, time to productivity, and user feedback. Report on them to leaders.
- Gather feedback and usage data, then improve content, delivery, and the capability itself. Feed user pain points back to implementation teams.
- Escalate risks early, such as capability changes that outpace training or gaps in access and environments, and propose solutions.

Capability growth and knowledge management

- Stay current on emerging technologies and training methods, and bring in new approaches such as immersive learning and AI-enabled learning tools where they add value.
- Build a knowledge base of training materials, lessons learned, and best practices for the group.
- Identify and develop subject matter experts and champions within teams to extend training reach and sustain adoption.

Qualifications You Must Have:

- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, Education, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
- 6+ years of experience in technical training or a related field.
- Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience is required.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Qualifications We Prefer:

- Experience with supporting/addressing customer training objectives.
- Must possess strong verbal and technical written communication skills.
