Your Team Responsibilities

The Asia Pacific Private Markets Research & Development team supports MSCI's Real Estate product line across the region, with team members based across multiple Asia Pacific markets. Reporting to two Executive Directors, the team prepares for and supports a growing volume of client meetings and strategic engagements, delivers bespoke analysis of private real estate market data, and helps clients interpret incomplete and fragmented market information in the context of live transactions and investment decisions. The team also runs an extensive thought leadership programme and maintains long-standing relationships with clients across the region, reinforcing MSCI's position as a trusted source of real estate market insight. This role is based in Shanghai and plays a critical role in maintaining service quality and continuity across time zones, while strengthening MSCI's data coverage across China, Japan and Korea through local relationships and language capability.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Support preparation for client meetings and strategic engagements across the Real Estate product line, including bespoke analysis and materials development.

- Respond to ad hoc client requests requiring interpretation of incomplete or non-standardised private real estate market datasets, escalating complex judgement calls appropriately.

- Assist senior specialists by taking on research and analytical work, freeing their capacity for product innovation, methodology development and strategic client relationships.

- Provide dedicated Asia Pacific coverage during periods of travel or leave, ensuring continuity of service for time-sensitive client requests within regional working hours.

- Support relationship-driven data acquisition activities and contribute language capability across China, Japan and Korea to strengthen client engagement and data coverage.

- Use AI-assisted tools to support document drafting, data formatting, summarisation and coding tasks, while retaining accountability for the accuracy and quality of client-facing outputs.

- Contribute to the existing thought leadership programme through participation in quarterly reporting processes and ad hoc analytical pieces for MSCI.com

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in real estate, finance, economics or a related discipline.

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret incomplete or non-standardized real estate datasets and translate them into practical, client-ready insights.

- Prior experience in real estate research, investment analysis or a related field is an advantage.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin, Japanese or Korean language skills strongly desirable.

- Comfort using AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, alongside sound judgement about when human review and interpretation are required.

- Strong attention to detail, capacity to manage multiple client deadlines, and a proactive, relationship-oriented approach.

- Ability to work effectively across time zones and collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
