Opportunity Overview
The Teradyne Software Engineering team is looking for a highly-motivated, energetic, technically driven Software Engineer to focus on the development, verification and maintenance of software systems for products within the Semiconductor Test division. Japan Software team is the part of US Software Engineering group and development occurs in a dynamic and challenging multi-site development environment.
Also, it is important to understand the behavior of hardware as well as software because our deliverable is Embedded software.
Location: Kumamoto, Japan
- Design, implementation and test of software components for the Automatic Test Equipment
- Understanding customer requirements and finding solutions that fit within our existing software architecture
- Develop scalable, high-performance, high-quality, extensible, and maintainable software
- Work with software verification engineers to devise an effective test strategy
- Create and execute an effective test package as Software verification engineer

- 顧客要件を理解し、当社の既存のソフトウェアアーキテクチャに適合する解決策を見出す
- スケーラブルで高性能・高品質、拡張性と保守性に優れたソフトウェアの開発
- ソフトウェア検証エンジニアと連携し、効果的なテスト戦略を策定
- ソフトウェア検証エンジニアとして効果的な試験パッケージの作成と実行

- A proactive mindset and the leadership to take initiative in tackling any challenge
- Approximately 5 years of practical software development experience, especially in embedded software
- Experience in the design, programming, and testing of embedded software or similar systems
- Hands-on coding experience in C++ or C#. Experience with Visual Basic, Excel VBA, CUDA, or other programming languages is a plus.
- Understanding of operating systems, especially Windows OS, including processes and threads
- Japanese communication skills sufficient for technical communication both within and outside the company
- BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field from a university or technical college
- English communication skills sufficient for internal communication with overseas engineers are preferred; candidates who are comfortable using English, even without full fluency, are also welcome
- Background in semiconductor testing is preferred
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic circuits, power systems, and networking is preferred
- Experience using development tools such as Visual Studio and Jira, and software version control tools such as ClearCase (VersionVault) and GitHub, is preferred
- Ability to effectively utilize AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code in daily work is preferred

- 組込みソフトウェアを中心とした、 ５ 年程度の実務的なソフトウェア開発経験
- 組込みソフトウェアなどの設計、プログラミング及びテストの経験
- C++ またはC#でのコーディング経験（Visual Basic、Excel VBA、GPU（CUDA）など他の言語も業務で使用します。）
- オペレーティングシステム（特に Windows OS 、プロセスやスレッド ）に関する理解
- 大学または工学系教育機関（高専など）におけるコンピュータサイエンス、コンピュータ工学、または関連分野の学士号または修士号
- 社内外で技術的なコミュニケーションが可能な日本語力
- 海外エンジニアとの社内コミュニケーションが可能な英語力があると望ましい
（英語に苦手意識がなければ可）
- 半導体テストに関するバックグラウンドがあると望ましい
- 電気／電子回路、電源システム、ネットワークの知識があると望ましい
- Visual Studio 、 Jira などの開発ツールや ClearCase （ VersionVault ）や GitHub などのソフトウェアバージョン管理ツールの使用経験があると望ましい
- GitHub Copilot やClaude CodeなどのAIツールを日常業務で効果的に活用できると望ましい
