Media relations will be at the heart of the role. You will develop strong media strategies, identify compelling stories and build trusted relationships with journalists, while also supporting clients across public affairs and issues & crisis communications.

We are looking for someone who combines excellent day-to-day account management with a sharp understanding of the Dutch media, political and regulatory landscape. You will be comfortable working in a fast-moving agency environment, collaborating with specialists and helping clients navigate complex reputational and stakeholder challenges.

This is an Account Manager-level opportunity, although we are also open to considering more senior profiles who bring the right blend of sector knowledge, media expertise and integrated corporate and public affairs experience.

What you'll do:

- Client partnership and account management : Act as a trusted day-to-day client contact, developing a strong understanding of client objectives, stakeholders and sector dynamics, while coordinating activity and maintaining consistently high standards of service.

- Media relations : Develop and deliver proactive and reactive media relations strategies, identify strong news angles, prepare high-quality media materials and build productive relationships with relevant Dutch media.

- Corporate and public affairs : Support integrated programmes that connect corporate communications, stakeholder engagement and public affairs, helping clients engage effectively with media, policymakers and wider audiences.

- Issues and crisis communications: Support clients in anticipating and responding to reputational issues and live situations through monitoring, scenario planning, messaging and coordinated response activity.

- Technology and aviation expertise : Build a strong understanding of the trends, policy developments and reputational considerations shaping the Technology and Aviation sectors, translating these into relevant communications opportunities and advice.

- Planning and storytelling : Turn complex business, policy and technical topics into clear, compelling narratives and creative content that earn attention and strengthen reputation.

- Quality control and delivery : Manage multiple workstreams, timelines and deliverables, ensuring accurate, polished work and smooth collaboration across integrated teams.

- Team contribution : Support and guide junior colleagues, contribute positively to client teams and broader Burson initiatives, and demonstrate effective time management and a collaborative agency mindset.

Experience that contributes to success:

- Corporate communications experience at Account Manager level or above, ideally gained within a communications or public relations agency.

- Fluency in Dutch, with excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong professional English is also required for an international client and team environment.

- Proven media relations experience in the Netherlands, including the ability to develop relevant stories, pitch confidently and build strong journalist relationships.

- Experience working with, or a clear interest in, Technology, Aviation or Financial Services clients and the issues shaping these sectors is preferred.

- An interest in public affairs and issues & crisis communications, with experience in either area considered an advantage.

- Strong account management skills, including the ability to manage priorities, coordinate teams and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

- Good knowledge of the Dutch media, political, regulatory and stakeholder landscape.

- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to contribute ideas and build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
