What will you do as a Lead, Production Support?

Leadership & team management

- Platform ownership: Manage L1 & L2 production support and SRE for Investment Management & Analytics platforms, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, analytics and research platforms, and the systems that support Portfolio Management, Investment Workflows, and Research and Analytics.

- Operating model & coverage: Effectively run the support operating model, including on-call rosters, escalation paths, follow-the-sun handovers, and service level objectives (SLOs), ensuring dependable coverage for business-critical services.

- Capability building: Identify skill gaps, drive cross-training and knowledge sharing, and contribute to hiring so the team scales with the platform.

Operational excellence & governance

- Proactive environment governance: Define and oversee the environment monitoring strategy, leveraging enterprise observability tools and predictive dashboards to ensure the high availability, capacity, and performance of production environments, including data platform capacity, compute cost, and job performance.

- Monitoring setup: Design and set up end-to-end monitoring and alerting across data pipelines and analytics services, covering job schedules and run status, data freshness and SLAs, data quality checks, cluster and compute health, and downstream report availability, with runbook-linked alerts and SLO dashboards.

- Incident & problem leadership: Command high-severity incident response efforts; drive institutional problem management frameworks and root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring systemic risks and minimise business disruption. Ensure incidents, including data delays and data quality breaks, are documented and corrective actions are tracked to closure.

- Release & change governance: Champion the rigorous governance of application changes, patch deployments, and infrastructure upgrades, enforcing zero-downtime methodologies and strict risk mitigation controls.

- Security & risk posture management: Drive the enforcement of security hygiene, vulnerability remediation, and compliance standards within production environments to maintain an uncompromised, secure operational posture.

- System resiliency: Own failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity readiness, including regular DR testing and resiliency reviews

Data platform operations

- Pipeline reliability: Own the stability and timeliness of Informatica and Databricks workloads and related batch schedules, ensuring critical data is delivered to investment teams within agreed SLAs.

- Data quality & recovery: Establish controls for data completeness and accuracy, and lead safe reruns, backfills, and data recovery when issues occur, in partnership with data engineering and data owners.

Stakeholder & vendor partnership

- Stakeholder communication: Act as the central point of coordination during incidents, clearly communicating status, impact, and next steps to investment teams, data consumers, and business stakeholders, technology teams, and senior management across regions and time zones.

- Business alignment: Work with business sponsors and stakeholders to iterate through requirements in phases, translating operational needs into prioritised improvements aligned with department objectives.

- User support: Partner closely with investment teams, data consumers, and business stakeholders, responding to queries and resolving issues with urgency and a service-first mindset.

- Vendor engagement: Collaborate with solution providers, data vendors, and platform vendor support teams to troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve issues related to third-party products and data feeds.

Continuous improvement

- Automation & AI-driven improvement: Identify and deliver opportunities to apply automation, AI frameworks, and agentic AI tooling to reduce toil, accelerate diagnostics, and continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of application support.

- Service reporting: Track and report operational KPIs (e.g., availability, MTTR, incident trends, SLA/SLO attainment) to management, using the insights to drive improvement.

- Documentation: Ensure comprehensive and current runbooks, incident resolutions, known-error records, and system configuration documentation.
