About the Role & Location We are seeking a patient, engaging, and supportive Direct Support Professional (1099 Independent Contractor) to provide individualized, one-on-one care in Charlotte, NC (Zip Code: 28277).
Our ideal contractor is empathetic and structured, skilled at providing positive verbal encouragement when frustration arises. Your primary focus will be guiding smooth transitions, assisting with age-appropriate daily tasks, and providing balanced support around routines and mealtime fixations.
Key Responsibilities
• Transition & Routine Support: Guide and prompt the youth through activity transitions and daily age-appropriate tasks with patience and structure.
• Emotional Support & Encouragement: Provide gentle verbal prompting and reassuring support during moments of frustration to help de-escalate crying or stress.
• Community & Recreational Engagement: Accompany and support the youth during favorite activities, such as swimming, basketball, art, library visits, and community outings.
• Goal Progression & Safety: Work collaboratively with care coordinators and family members to foster independence, routine consistency, and personal growth.
Schedule & Pay Rates This 1099 Independent Contractor position pays:
• Community Living & Supports (CLS): $16.75 per hour
• Respite Care: $15.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
• School Year: Flexible schedule up to 15 hours per week for CLS care.
• School Breaks / Summer: Flexible schedule up to 28 hours per week for CLS care.
• Respite Care: Provided as needed (up to 300 annual respite hours available based on family need).
Qualifications
• Contractor Status: Must be willing to contract as a 1099 Independent Contractor.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Experience: Experience supporting youth with developmental needs, implementing structured routines, and using positive verbal support preferred.
• Transportation: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance (required).
• Screening: Ability to pass standard background check.
