At Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology in Oxfordshire we are a world leader in the design and manufacture of superconducting MRI magnets for medical applications. We are proud to develop truly innovative technology and continue to push the boundaries to make MRI systems more accessible worldwide.

Service Lifecycle Engineering Intern

Apply now for the position of Service Lifecycle Engineering Intern and gain hands-on experience of how engineering continues throughout the working life of complex medical technology.

Engineering doesn’t stop once a product leaves the factory. Our Service Lifecycle Management team supports products throughout their operational life, using technical expertise, data and real-world field experience to understand performance, solve problems and continually improve the way our products are supported.

During this 12-month internship, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers supporting our headquarters and global service teams. You’ll analyse data from MRI systems in the field, help investigate technical issues and contribute to solutions that improve product performance, reliability and serviceability.

You’ll take on real responsibility during your placement and have the opportunity to apply the analytical and problem-solving skills developed through your degree to real-world engineering challenges.

In this role you will:

- Work alongside the Service Lifecycle Management team to provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and field service engineers around the world.
- Analyse and trend data from our installed base of MRI systems and associated components to help identify recurring issues, patterns and potential areas for improvement.
- Support the investigation and troubleshooting of technical and performance issues relating to superconducting magnets and MRI systems in the field.
- Use engineering knowledge, data and evidence to help understand problems and contribute to practical solutions.
- Contribute to improvements in service processes and solutions, helping to maintain high standards of product performance and quality while identifying opportunities for greater efficiency.
- Gain practical experience of how engineering decisions made across a product's lifecycle can influence its performance and support in the real world.

All of our interns also participate in our structured 12-month Intern Development Programme, developing professional skills such as communication, teamwork and commercial awareness alongside the experience gained within the role.

This internship may involve working at either or both of our Eynsham and Bicester sites. You’ll work with teams across both locations and gain unique insight into how a large-scale business manages the transition of operations while maintaining day-to-day delivery.

Work Experience

- You will be an undergraduate student currently studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical or Materials Engineering, Physics, or another relevant technical subject, and completing a 12-month industrial placement or sandwich year as part of your degree.
- You’ll have analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills and enjoy understanding why things happen and how they can be improved.
- You’ll be comfortable working with data and using evidence to investigate problems and identify trends.
- You’ll have good communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues from different technical areas.
- You’ll be proactive, curious and willing to learn, take initiative and contribute your ideas.

You must also have eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the internship (Summer 2027-Summer 2028), as we are unable to offer sponsorship for internship roles.

Benefits

- 26 days' holiday with the option to buy or sell an additional 5 days
- Up to 10% employer pension contribution
- Share and bonus scheme
- Access to our flexible benefits from private medical insurance to dental cover
- Corporate Social Responsibility opportunities including 2 paid volunteering days per year and support from our 24/7 employee assistance programme
