Job Description

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the fab manager or shift leadership, the Cleanroom Manufacturing Technician performs highly hands-on semiconductor processing in a cleanroom environment, with significant emphasis on manual wafer handling, manual tool setup, recipe verification, lot movement, inspection, and documentation. This role requires experienced judgment, strong contamination-control discipline, and the ability to execute production work accurately and independently while supporting flow, yield, quality, and schedule adherence across lithography, deposition, and wet processes.

This is a 2nd shift position (2:30 PM–11:00 PM, Monday–Friday). Training will be on the first shift, and occasional future retraining will be required on first shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM Monday-Friday)

Key Responsibilities

- Perform hands-on manual wafer processing, including careful loading, unloading, carrier movement, tool preparation, and lot handling using approved cleanroom methods
- Operate tools while manually verifying setup conditions, recipes, materials, lot identity, and process readiness prior to execution
- Maintain strict adherence to cleanroom protocols, contamination control practices, safety requirements, and documented work instructions
- Record, verify, and track production data in MES systems, including SPC entries, equipment logs, lot travelers, and manual process documentation
- Perform inspection, basic metrology, and visual verification to confirm process output quality and identify abnormalities early
- Identify and escalate equipment issues, process deviations, material concerns, contamination risks, or product quality risks with clear supporting details
- Support troubleshooting and corrective actions alongside engineering and senior technicians while maintaining production discipline and documentation accuracy
- Maintain accurate records for lot travelers, tool usage, process runs, rework activity, and shift-to-shift handoff communication

Shift Expectations

- Focus on accurate manual execution, production flow, lot movement, and schedule adherence rather than process development
- Operate with a high level of ownership, judgment, and discipline during off-hours when engineering and support resources may be limited
- Demonstrate the experience and maturity required to follow complex instructions, recognize abnormal conditions, and stop or escalate work when appropriate
- Ensure clean, complete, and accurate handoff to the next shift, including WIP status, tool status, open issues, and risk items

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, military technical experience, or associate degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on semiconductor, cleanroom, microfabrication, precision manufacturing, or similarly controlled production experience required
- Demonstrated experience performing manual wafer handling, manual lot movement, tool loading/unloading, inspection, and process documentation in a controlled environment
- Working knowledge of MES/workflow tracking systems, lot travelers, SPC entries, and production documentation practices
- Computer skills, including email, data entry, production tracking, log review, and clear written shift communication
- Proven ability to work independently, follow detailed work instructions, and escalate issues appropriately in a production environment

Preferred Skills

- Strong contamination awareness, manual dexterity, and attention to detail in repetitive precision-processing tasks
- Ability to follow process instructions, work instructions, SOPs
- Experience recognizing abnormal tool, material, wafer, or process conditions and escalating concerns before continuing work
- Effective written and verbal communication across shifts, including concise passdown of tool status, WIP status, holds, delays, and risk items
- Problem-solving mindset with willingness to escalate early and maintain product protection as the priority
- Team-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a high-discipline production environment

Physical Requirements

- Standing and walking up to 8–10 hours per shift in a cleanroom environment
- Manual handling of wafer carriers, cassettes, materials, and production supplies up to approximately 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and steady manual control for precision wafer handling, tool loading, unloading, and inspection activity
- Ability to work in full cleanroom PPE for extended periods while maintaining focus, accuracy, and contamination-control discipline
