About this role
Job Summary
JPMorganChase is seeking an Executive Director to join Climate Advisory, partnering with a cross-functional team to help clients understand and act on climate-related risks and opportunities. This role translates climate science into decision-grade advice that supports clients across the lifecycle—from early-stage and growth companies building climate-aware strategies, to large corporates integrating resilience into operations and capital planning, and to institutional investors. You will gain practical climate critical thinking and executive communications skills working alongside the Global head of Climate Advisory, combined with your deep scientific expertise to deliver rigorous, practical and audience-specific insights for client engagements, thought leadership and strategic initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Global Head of Climate Advisory to deliver climate advisory engagements for corporates and investors, translating physical climate science into actionable guidance aligned to each client’s business model, geography, and decision context.
- Support and co-develop flagship thought leadership (including the Climate Intuition series) while expanding outputs to broader Climate Advisory needs—client briefs, memos, board materials, and presentation narratives.
- Advise across company stages and investor types
- Distill complex climate research into decision-ready frameworks, including scenario thinking, uncertainty communication, hazard-to-impact pathways, leading indicators, and practical “what to do next” roadmaps.
- Conduct and oversee scientific diligence and quality control, validating claims, ensuring appropriate treatment of uncertainty/limitations, and maintaining credibility suitable for board and investor audiences.
- Integrate climate science with business and financial context, collaborating with sector, risk, strategy, and product partners to connect hazards to material operational and financial implications (without overstating precision).
- Develop reusable advisory assets and toolkits, such as executive FAQs, sector/geography primers, visual exhibits, meeting materials, and repeatable methodologies that scale across engagements.
- Engage senior stakeholders and clients, contributing to workshops and executive briefings; capturing client questions and converting them into clear analyses and deliverables.
- Partner with internal SMEs and leadership to align advisory outputs with firm standards, reputational risk considerations, and client needs across regions and industries.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- PhD in climate science, atmospheric science, earth system science, or closely related field
- Demonstrated experience translating technical climate and/or physical science into real-world applications outside academia, such as industry, government, finance, consulting, engineering, risk, or operations
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a proven ability to produce clear, executive-level narratives from complex material
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, and have the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and to develop innovative solutions
- Adaptability, able to manage projects independently and be ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team
- Ability to comfortably interact with clients in a professional and mature manner
- Excellent understanding of financial, legal and reputational risks facing large integrated investment banks in today's environment
- High judgement and integrity, with a strong commitment to scientific accuracy
