About this role

CDL Driver

Denver, Colorado

$28-$40 hour + Benefits!

Drive safely. Deliver quality. Keep projects moving at RK.

At RK Industries, the CDL Driver transports steel pipe, HVAC materials, equipment, and manufactured products to construction sites and other destinations. As part of Supply Chain Management, you will operate an assigned day-cab tractor on primarily local routes, take ownership of load securement, and work closely with dispatch to keep deliveries safe and on schedule. When you are not on the road, you will support shipping, receiving, and shop operations.

As a second-generation, family-owned company, RK brings together seven business units across construction, manufacturing, advanced fabrication, and building services. Our integrated approach, commitment to safety, and investment in employee development create opportunities to build a lasting career.

What You’ll Do

- Safely operate commercial vehicles in accordance with federal, state, local, and company regulations, including DOT and FMCSA requirements.
- Inspect and secure flatbed loads using tarps, chains, binders, and proper cargo-securement methods to ensure safe, undamaged delivery. Shipping crews load materials, and site crews handle unloading; forklift, boom, and crane operation are not required for this role.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections; promptly report maintenance and safety concerns and identify equipment that must be taken out of service.
- Maintain hours-of-service logs using Motive, complete inspection reports, and prepare accurate shipping, receiving, and delivery documentation. Vehicles are equipped with Samsara dual-facing AI cameras and other telematics.
- Communicate with dispatchers and coordinators about delivery schedules, route changes, delays, pickup instructions, and equipment issues.
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and basic preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles. Report to RK's Lewiston facility each day; tractors remain on site and are not take-home vehicles.
- Support dock, sheet metal shop, tool shop, shipping, and receiving operations when driving work is limited by scheduling or weather. Handle, organize, and stage materials; grind and clean parts; and maintain orderly work areas as needed.
- Accurately record time, participate in equipment and safety training, assist other employees, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow RK and jobsite safety procedures, wear required PPE, including a hard hat on flatbeds, and stop work and notify a supervisor whenever conditions are unsafe.
- Work a typical schedule of approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with flexibility for earlier starts, later finishes, and minimal weekend work. Occasional overnight or interstate travel may be required. Overtime depends on business needs and is not guaranteed; per diem is provided for overnight travel.

What You Bring

- High school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and a current DOT medical card before hire. A Class B license does not meet this role's requirements.
- At least three years of commercial driving experience; five or more years is preferred.
- Flatbed driving experience, including hands-on cargo securement and tarping with chains and binders, plus experience delivering construction materials to active jobsites.
- Mountain-driving experience and sound judgment about changing road and weather conditions.
- Eligibility to drive under RK's insurance policy and ability to pass required driver-record, FMCSA Clearinghouse, and pre-employment compliance reviews.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and applicable state transportation regulations, safe material handling, relevant trade materials and tools, and assigned equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and complete transportation documentation. Experience with Motive or similar electronic logging and telematics systems is a plus.
- Clear communication, dependability, attention to detail, and accountability for safe work and timely reporting of issues. Ability to follow instructions, work under supervision, and support the team beyond driving duties.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently and handle tarps, chains, binders, and other securement equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing into and out of cabs and onto trailers, and balancing on uneven surfaces.
- Readiness to work indoors and outdoors in dusty, noisy, hot, cold, or potentially hazardous conditions, including at heights or in tight or confined spaces as tasks require. Ability to operate vehicles and tools safely, maintain situational awareness, and respond to safety instructions and warnings.
- Consistent, punctual attendance, reliable transportation to the RK facility, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
