About this role

This posting is for piping designers, duct designers, and electrical designers. The Infrastructure team turns factory utility concepts into construction-ready design, and we hire this role in those three crafts. Your craft is the focus. You still coordinate the model with the other two so the factory systems fit together.

You will take design from concept through fabrication and field verification. Piping covers process and mechanical piping, including specialty chemicals, water, and wastewater. Duct covers mechanical air systems. Electrical covers power and infrastructure electrical design that has to live in the same model.

The primary location for this position is Houston, TX. Austin, Reno, or Fremont can be discussed. You will work with engineers, construction, and procurement, and you will spend time in the field checking the model against the plant.

- Produce 2D and 3D design documents in Revit and AutoCAD for permit and construction in your craft: piping, duct, or electrical
- Draw the diagrams and layouts for that craft, including P&IDs and pipe routing, duct layouts, or electrical plans and risers
- Build clash-free coordination models at LOD 300 in Revit and Navisworks or Revizto with the other crafts
- Build fabrication-level models at LOD 400 where the craft requires them, including Revit fabrication parts for specialty piping
- Issue model-based schedules from the model to estimating and procurement
- Resolve clashes among piping, duct, electrical, and construction before the package is issued
- Walk the site, write field reports, and use point-cloud data to update as-built models

- Evidence of design experience in piping, duct, or electrical. Position level is set from that work, from early-career through staff
- Bachelor's Degree in a Design or engineering field, or equivalent experience
- Permit and construction documents produced in Revit and AutoCAD for one of those crafts
- Coordinated 3D models in Navisworks or similar
- Coordination of your craft with at least one other discipline in a building or plant model
- Working knowledge of the drafting standards and codes that apply to your craft, including OSHA and the ASME, NFPA, or electrical standards you have designed to
- Experience with the materials, fittings, and joining or installation methods used in your craft
