About this role
Push the boundaries of signal processing. Advance the future of Electronic Warfare.
Adversary emitters adapt faster than fielded systems can keep up. Waveforms are agile, spectrum is congested, and the signals that matter are often buried in noise, interference, and clutter. Leidos’ Electronic Warfare Division builds the signal collection, processing, and dissemination systems that pull actionable information out of that environment, in support of the warfighter and national security.
We’re looking for a Senior Signal Processing Engineer who wants to work on these problems at the algorithm level, then take solutions from simulation to the lab to the field. You’ll do more than apply existing solutions: you’ll develop innovative algorithms and help shape the next generation of EW capabilities.
What you’ll do
- Develop novel algorithms for extracting information from signal sensors, in both time-series and spectral domains
- Build performance simulations and validate results against synthetic and real collected data
- Lead lab-based and field testing, and see your work run on real hardware and real signals
- Serve as technical team lead on multi-disciplinary teams, setting technical direction across one or more projects
- Shape what we pursue next by developing technical solutions and new ideas for capture efforts such as BAAs and RFPs
- Brief results to your team, leadership, and government customers, and build direct relationships with the people who use what you build
Basic qualifications
- U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10+ years
- Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, Python, Linux, Mathematica, and Simulink, and languages such as C/C++ or Java
- Strong foundation in digital filtering, spectral estimation, detection and estimation theory, linear algebra, and stochastic processes
- Experience in EW, SIGINT, and/or radar systems
- Demonstrated success leading small multidisciplinary technical teams or projects
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred qualifications
- PhD in a relevant technical discipline
- Experience in an R&D environment
- Experience supporting business development and capture, including technical proposals and white papers
Why Leidos

- 4+ weeks of paid time off and 11 paid holidays
- 401(k) with a 6% company match and immediate vesting
- Flexible schedules
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan
- Technical upskilling and professional development
- Education and training support
- Paid parental leave
Ready to make your mark in Electronic Warfare?
If you’re energized by difficult technical challenges and want to help shape the future of EW, we want to hear from you.
NOTE: for this position the salary range will be $180,000 - $270,000 for qualified candidates with an active clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Must be able to work onsite in our Arlington, VA or San Diego, CA offices.
