About the company

Our client is a venture-backed voice AI company building AI agents that handle the sales, support and logistics calls enterprise contact centers once staffed with large human teams. Thousands of companies run on the platform, including Fortune 500 names in healthcare, travel and technology. Revenue has grown more than tenfold since the start of 2025 with a team of about 50, and the company was recently ranked the top place to work in the Bay Area by a major business publication.

Their 2026 goal is a full CX platform where AI workers act as frontline agents, QA analysts and managers, improving every customer interaction rather than waiting for a human to retune them.

About the role

The company is building procurement from scratch and looking for the person to own it as the company scales. This is a high-ownership seat for someone commercially sharp, analytical, and comfortable building where no structure exists yet. The person here owns vendor selection, sourcing, negotiation, contracting and ongoing vendor management across the whole company.

The role works closely with Finance, Legal, Engineering, IT, HR and leadership to make sure the company gets real value from every major vendor, and to build a procurement function that holds up as the company grows.

Key responsibilities

- Own procurement company-wide, from sourcing through contracting and renewals
- Lead vendor selection, evaluation and negotiation
- Manage strategic software, infrastructure and other company spend
- Identify cost savings and vendor consolidation opportunities
- Build procurement processes, policies and approval workflows from scratch
- Partner with Finance and Legal on contracts, budgets and vendor risk
- Track company spend and improve visibility into vendor costs
- Build strong vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms
- Use automation and AI to make procurement faster
- Grow the procurement function as the company scales

What they are looking for

- 5+ years in procurement, strategic sourcing or purchasing
- Strong vendor and contract negotiation experience
- Has owned meaningful company spend, over $25M
- Experience at a fast-growing technology company or startup
- SaaS, software or technical procurement experience
- Highly analytical and comfortable in spend data
- Can operate independently without much existing structure
- Has built procurement processes or functions from scratch
- Moves quickly and avoids unnecessary bureaucracy
- Strong communicator who can work across Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Legal, Engineering, IT and HR

An IC builder mindset matters here. This seat is not being built as a people management role right now.

Interview process

Four rounds: a talent screen, a functional interview, a hiring manager conversation, and a three-hour final round that includes a live exercise.

Benefits

100% medical, dental and vision coverage, a daily meal credit, and monthly wellness, commuter, phone and internet reimbursements. The company sponsors work authorization for qualified candidates.
