About this role
Are you a graduate student seeking a meaningful clinical internship where you can build your skills, receive exceptional supervision, and make a lasting impact in the lives of others? Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Master's-level Student Intern to join our RESET Recovery and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) team. Our diverse and compassionate team is dedicated to meeting clients where they are, delivering culturally responsive care that fosters hope, healing, and long-term recovery. We value collaboration, creativity, and open dialogue, and intentionally cultivate a supportive learning environment where clinicians grow together and feel empowered in their work.
As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience providing individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents navigating substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges at various stages of recovery. Working within a harm-reduction and client-centered framework, you will develop and strengthen your clinical skills while helping clients build insight, resilience, and meaningful change. You'll be encouraged to bring curiosity, innovation, and flexibility to your work, learning how to adapt interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual. Through ongoing clinical supervision, mentorship, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, you'll have the opportunity to connect theory to practice while contributing to healing and recovery within the community.
The ideal candidate is a Master's-level Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work student who is passionate about behavioral health and eager to develop their clinical skills in a supportive setting. We are looking for someone who embraces trauma-informed and harm-reduction approaches, values cultural humility, welcomes feedback, and believes recovery is a collaborative and individualized journey. Candidates with prior practicum experience are preferred, and a genuine interest in working with individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges is essential.
This internship runs from January 2027 through August 2027 and offers a flexible schedule of 16-20 hours per week , Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. This is a fully onsite opportunity that provides immersive clinical training and meaningful client engagement. As one of Colorado's largest and most diverse community mental health organizations, AMHR offers interns the unique opportunity to learn from professionals across multiple disciplines, participate in ongoing training and development, and gain valuable experience serving individuals across the lifespan. If you're ready to grow as a clinician while helping others move toward recovery and wellness, we'd love to have you join our team.
