A prolific content creator and production partner, FOX Entertainment collaborates with leading studios, creators, and platforms worldwide to produce and distribute premium content at scale across broadcast, streaming, and digital ecosystems, while continuing to grow its portfolio of owned IP and next-generation storytelling formats.
JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX Entertainment is hiring a Director, Engineering & Support to lead the engineering and technical support teams - an SRE-oriented group focused on reliability, automation, and workflow tooling - that keeps Entertainment’s systems running and modern. The team upholds Enterprise Technology's standards for shared infrastructure while owning the creative media pipelines that are unique to Entertainment. It's a dual role - the strategic partner for long-term technology plans and facility-operations growth, and the hands-on operational owner accountable for keeping it running every day. The ideal candidate is a high-judgment, highly hands-on operator who is equally comfortable setting strategy and building executive-level narratives as getting deep into execution and cross-functional alignment. You manage and prioritize a team of specialized engineers, drive outcomes through influence as much as authority, and use AI and agentic workflows to modernize the work and extend what a lean team can deliver.
Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace for a minimum of four (4) days per week is an essential function of the position. The selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the Team & Design the Organization
- Lead, develop, and prioritize the engineering support teams behind Entertainment’s owned post-production environments
- Set clear roles, ownership, and remit so the team operates independently and escalates at the right moments - defining where it executes to direction and where ownership can grow
- Direct a specialized, highly skilled labor force to the work where it adds the most value.
Set the Technology Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the long-term architecture and roadmap for owned systems and platforms, and build the executive-level narratives that align leadership behind decisions and trade-offs
- Collaborate actively with leaders across the group to align the plans with FOX Entertainment's broader technology vision
- Plan facility moves and the steady-state technology operations that follow
Keep Systems Reliable (SRE)
- Own the day-to-day reliability and maintenance of on-prem infrastructure and post systems - storage, render and virtualization, editorial/finishing/graphics systems, and facility technology For shared enterprise tooling - network, virtual systems, storage, and applications - adhere to, maintain, and update against the standards Enterprise Technology sets; transition ownership where possible to eliminate running parallel infrastructure
- For the systems unique to Entertainment - the creative media pipelines and bespoke post-production workflows - own their reliability and evolution end to end, building on the enterprise foundations to serve the specific needs of our creative users
- Apply a site-reliability approach across both - monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement - with hands-on depth focused where it adds the most value
- Ensure a consistent, well-run support and issue-resolution experience in partnership with the support desk teams
- Keep media transfer platforms healthy and clear roadblocks, supporting the day-to-day operational teams
Deliver Projects & Establish Standards
- Deliver capital and infrastructure projects against plan, with risks defined, clear RACI ownership, and blockers or delays surfaced early
- Evaluate - and where necessary, establish - the workflows, documentation, and standards that make delivery repeatable and resilient to turnover, measured against clear, outcome-driven goals
Modernize & Partner Across the Org
- Use AI and agentic workflows to automate and modernize the work, extending what a lean team can deliver and directing effort to where it counts most
- Partner with TechOps leadership, Enterprise Technology, and other teams across the org - reducing duplicated infrastructure and keeping clear lines of ownership
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- People-leadership instinct - you develop talent, delegate with intent, prioritize ruthlessly, and manage performance directly
- Judgment to move fluidly between strategy and the weeds, and to make good calls on where to invest limited, specialized capacity
- Judgment about where to adhere to enterprise standards versus where Entertainment-specific systems warrant bespoke ownership - reducing duplication rather than standing up parallel IT
- Enough hands-on technical depth to know what needs to get done, to recognize when an approach doesn't hold up, and to ask the questions that keep the team operating at the leanest, most efficient footprint while managing necessity. This isn't a build-it-yourself role, but you must be credible enough to direct the people who do
- Deep working knowledge of network and media systems, media transfer pipelines, and post-production & vfx infrastructure - storage, render and virtualization, editorial/finishing/graphics systems, and facility technology
- Fluency with post-production editing and graphics systems
- Ability to drive outcomes through influence - aligning senior stakeholders and framing trade-offs across teams you don't directly control
- Builder's instinct for modernization - using AI and agentic workflows to automate and extend what a team can deliver
- Skill in defining roles and ownership so a specialized, highly skilled labor force is used where it adds the most value
- Clear, calm communication; you bring problems and decisions forward, not just status, and you surface issues before they become crises
- 8+ years leading post-production engineering and/or technical support teams, including technical program leadership
- Experience owning technology roadmaps and delivering capital or infrastructure projects on plan
- Hands-on experience developing AI/agentic workflows
- Demonstrated experience managing and prioritizing a team of specialized technical staff
- Strong, hands-on experience with the modern post-production stack — high-performance shared storage, MAM and render-farm management, pipeline tooling, and remote-workstation/virtualization
- Working knowledge of finishing, mastering, and high-speed media transfers (e.g. Aspera, Signiant)
- Knowledge of emerging media technologies and standards - HDR, audio & color (Dolby Vision/Atmos, HDR10+, ACES), IMF mastering, broadcast standards, virtualization, accessibility, cloud workflows — and industry bodies such as SMPTE, FCC, MovieLabs, TPN, ATSC
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar), including relevant certifications
- Experience working with union or collectively-bargained labor
- Experience planning or executing a facility move or major build
- Structured program leadership at scale (PMP or equivalent)
- Facility infrastructure experience in a vendor, studio or network broadcast environment
