About The Role:

As our Senior Commercial and Risk Manager, you will lead the commercial strategy and risk management across John Holland’s Queensland Building business, supporting both tenders and project delivery. Working closely with senior leaders and project teams, you'll provide expert guidance on contracts, commercial performance, risk, compliance, and governance to drive successful project outcomes. You'll also play a key role in contract negotiations, dispute resolution, insurance claims management, and strengthening commercial capability across the business to protect profitability and support sustainable growth.

What we are looking for:

- Degree qualified in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.

- Strong experience in project commercial management and contract administration within construction, engineering or project environments.

- Proven ability to manage commercial, contractual and financial risk.

- Advanced understanding of compliance, legislation and commercial reporting requirements.

- Highly developed negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Strong capability in contract interpretation, drafting and managing complex commercial agreements.

- Proven experience in leadership and people management

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead commercial strategy, risk management and governance across the Queensland Building business.

- Provide commercial leadership and support for major tenders, contract reviews and negotiations.

- Identify , assess and mitigate contractual, commercial and financial risks across projects in delivery.

- Advise senior leaders on commercial matters, legislative changes and business risk.

- Lead the management of contractual disputes, adjudications and major insurance claims.

- Support project delivery teams with contract administration, variations, delays, claims and subcontract management.

- Drive commercial capability and lead the commercial and administration peer group by mentoring, training and developing project commercial teams.

- Partner with project leaders to improve commercial performance and ensure stable profitability.

- Coordinate legal support and provide strategic advice to protect business interests and project outcomes.
