Overhead Crane Operator / Material Handler

Available Shift: 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $22.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience
2nd Shift Premium: Additional $3.00/hour
Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Material Handler to assist with daily operations in a structural steel shop and outdoor storage yard. This role combines equipment operation, material movement, shipment preparation, and general production support. The ideal candidate is adaptable, safety-conscious, and comfortable switching between tasks based on workload and operational priorities.
Responsibilities
- Operate overhead cranes to lift and move structural steel safely.
- Use forklifts and Pettibone/telehandler equipment to transport materials.
- Move, organize, and stage steel throughout the shop and yard.
- Jockey trailers, unload deliveries, and prepare materials for shipment.
- Assist with skidding, parts cleaning, and machine operation as needed.
- Help track inventory and maintain organized work areas.
- Follow equipment operating procedures and workplace safety requirements.
- Support other departments as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Qualifications
- Experience operating overhead cranes is required.
- Experience with Pettibone or telehandler equipment is required.
- Familiarity with forklifts and other industrial equipment.
- Some experience handling structural steel.
- Material handling, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to handle heavy materials and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
