Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer) to join an international team working on the SIMPL Programme, an initiative focused on developing a secure, modular and interoperable platform supporting European data spaces and cloud-to-edge solutions.

You will work hands-on across frontend and backend development, building scalable applications, APIs and integrations in close cooperation with Architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Test Engineers and DevOps specialists.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, test and maintain backend services using Java 21, Spring Framework and Spring Boot .

- Develop modern frontend applications using React, TypeScript and JavaScript .

- Design, develop and maintain REST APIs and platform integrations.

- Build and support event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka .

- Develop and optimize application interactions with relational databases .

- Ensure high code quality through automated testing, peer reviews, JUnit, SonarQube and secure coding practices.

- Identify and address security findings and vulnerabilities, including those identified through Fortify and other security scans.

- Build and package applications using Maven and support deployment and operational activities in Tomcat-based environments, Argo and Rancher .

- Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues using logs, monitoring tools and Elasticsearch .

- Maintain code, configuration and technical documentation using Git, Jira and Confluence .

- Contribute to engineering best practices and continuous improvement across the programme.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of professional software development experience , including hands-on full-stack development.

- Strong practical experience with Java, ideally Java 21, Spring Framework and Spring Boot .

- Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript .

- Solid experience in REST API design and integration .

- Practical experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven integrations.

- Good knowledge of relational databases and database interactions.

- Experience with automated testing, JUnit, Git and code-review practices.

- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

- Understanding of secure coding and software quality practices.

- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within an international, cross-functional team.

- Very good command of English .

- Experience with microservices and distributed systems .

- Experience with cloud-native application development and containerized environments.

- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.

- Experience with SonarQube, Fortify, Argo, Rancher and Elasticsearch .

- Experience with performance and scalability optimization.

- Experience working on large-scale platform or integration programmes.
