About this role
Who we’re looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4 years of relevant mechanical design experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial machinery, electro-mechanical packaging, or comparable complex hardware systems
The impact you’ll make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.
The group you’ll be a part of
Lam India Central Engineering team - Dry DPG NSR
What you’ll do
- Execute hardware design and integration projects for customer-specific changes to standard platforms, including scoping, requirements alignment, design options, review stage gates, release execution, and closure.
- Develop mechanical/electro-mechanical solutions by adapting product configurations, evaluating fit/form/function, preparing CAD models/drawings, and supporting verification or validation as needed.
- Present data-driven trade-offs at design review stage gates and align stakeholders on preferred solutions, risks, and implementation approach.
- Complete release-ready design deliverables including 3D models, 2D drawings, BOM validation, material inputs, packaging, routing, and basic structural/thermal checks.
- Support feasibility studies, test plans, validation inputs, FMEA, risk mitigation, and action-item closure for design approval and release readiness.
- Prepare concise reports, design review material, and technical presentations to communicate design intent, evaluation, validation, and release status.
- Release parts, drawings, BOMs, engineering change records, documentation, order BOM instructions, and engineering project updates through PLM/Teamcenter processes.
- Collaborate with product, safety, systems, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and assembly teams to deliver compliant, configuration-ready hardware releases.
Mandatory Skills to perform the job
- Mechanical design, 3D modelling, assembly design, and 2D detailing using Creo/Pro-E or equivalent CAD tools.
- PLM/PDM release processes, engineering change management, BOM structuring, drawing release, and document control.
- First-order engineering checks for load, fit, clearance, fastening, structural/thermal impact, fluid/gas flow considerations, and manufacturability.
- Design reviews, FMEA, requirements interpretation, action-item closure, and technical documentation for hardware release.
- Ability to work in a schedule-driven environment with evolving customer-specific requirements and cross-functional stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to hardware design or system integration involving mechanical assemblies, electro-mechanical packaging, customer upgrades, or complex equipment.
- Awareness of SEMI, Lam standards, ANSI/ASME, GD&T, DFA, DFS, safety, serviceability, and manufacturability requirements.
- Clear written/verbal communication to create concise review material and align global stakeholders.
- Hands on experience working in a lab/test environment.
