About this role

Night Distribution Operations Manager

Location: Bristol RSC

Salary: Upto 54k per annum + Competitive Benefits. Dependent on skills and experience.

Work Type: Full-Time (Shift Pattern : 3 days on one week, 4 days on the next, working nights)

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Next, we believe in giving our leaders true autonomy to make a real impact. As our Night Distribution Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our Bristol Regional Support Centre (RSC), overseeing both Warehouse and Transport operations on your shift. If you thrive in a fast-paced distribution environment, love developing people, and want a role where no two nights are the same, this is your chance to step up and lead a high-performing operation.

What You’ll Be Doing

Instead of just managing tasks, you'll be driving results and shaping a safe, engaged culture:

- Own the Shift: Take full operational accountability for the night shift across both Transport and Warehouse, ensuring we hit our service, safety, and cost targets.
- Drive Efficiency & Performance: Constantly review methods to maximise productivity, track performance, and manage operations within budget parameters.
- Lead & Mentor: Inspire and guide a team of managers, supervisors, and colleagues. You’ll champion personal development, run daily briefings, and foster a "Fun, Fair and Rewarding" culture.
- Champion Health & Safety: Lead from the front on H&S compliance, promote best practices, conduct audits, and ensure a secure, high-standard working environment.
- Collaborate Network-Wide: Work closely with Site Managers, transport teams, and suppliers to guarantee seamless reception and dispatch processes.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced, resilient leader who can walk onto the shift and command respect through clear communication and common-sense management:

- Experience: 3+ years of commercial experience gained in a service-focused distribution environment, with a proven track record of managing a team of 5+ managers/supervisors and 15+ colleagues.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of Road Transport Regulations, 'O' Licence requirements, and warehouse/pre-retail operations.
- Financial & Analytical Mindset: Experience with budgeting, CPU management, and analysing operational data to solve problems.
- Communication & Leadership: An articulate, persuasive communicator with an open management style who excels at coaching, developing others, and handling first-stage HR issues.
- Qualifications: A National Certificate in Professional Competence (CPC) is desirable, but not essential.

(Don't tick every single box? If you have strong distribution leadership experience and a passion for operational excellence, we'd still love to see your application!)

Perks & Benefits

- Attractive Salary: Upto 54k for an experienced, driven candidate.
- Work-Life Balance Pattern: Enjoy a consistent shift pattern of 3 days on one week, 4 days on the next.
- Career Growth: Excellent training, ongoing coaching, and clear progression pathways within a major national retailer.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Generous staff discount, pension scheme matching, and solid wellbeing support.
