The Role
OnPay is looking for a Senior Web Developer, Marketing to own the technical development, infrastructure, and health of OnPay.com , a critical part of how small businesses discover, evaluate, and ultimately choose OnPay.
Reporting to the VP, Growth Marketing, this is a hands-on role for a strong web developer who can own a live marketing site end to end, from WordPress development, infrastructure, integrations, tracking, and site performance to landing pages, experimentation, and technical support for Growth initiatives.
You’ll work closely with Growth Marketing, Web/CRO, Content, Performance Marketing, Marketing Analytics, RevOps, Sales, Product, Partnerships, and other teams across the business. You’ll be expected to make sound technical decisions independently, move quickly from a clear business goal to a working solution, and proactively identify opportunities to improve how the site performs.
The right person is a developer first, but understands that the website is also a Growth engine. You care about clean code, site reliability, security, accessibility, and maintainability, and you’re equally comfortable implementing pixels, launching an A/B test, troubleshooting an integration, or building a new experience that helps turn more visitors into customers.
What You’ll Do
- Website ownership. Own the development, maintenance, and documentation of OnPay’s marketing website, landing pages, forms, calculators, and interactive tools in WordPress, including custom themes, blocks, and plugins.
- Fast, reliable delivery. Launch landing pages, campaigns, and web requests across Marketing and other business teams efficiently. Prioritize with the VP, flag tradeoffs early, and maintain strong delivery velocity.
- Experimentation. Partner with Web/CRO, Content, Performance Marketing, and Marketing Analytics to turn hypotheses into well-instrumented A/B and multivariate tests. Own technical setup, QA, launch, and implementation of winning experiences, and contribute to experiment design and analysis.
- Tracking. Own the technical implementation and QA of pixels, tags, conversion events, and the data layer using Google Tag Manager and GA4, partnering with Marketing Analytics and RevOps on measurement definitions and source-of-truth reporting.
- Integrations and custom code. Build forms, webhooks, integrations, and custom workflow actions across HubSpot, Zapier, and other systems.
- Technical health. Keep the site fast, accessible, and secure, including Core Web Vitals, WCAG standards, reCAPTCHA, and privacy and consent settings. Work with the SEO and AI Search lead on site structure, schema, and indexing.
- Modern development. Evaluate our site architecture, developer tooling, and workflows and recommend improvements with a clear business case. Use AI and automation to speed up development, QA, testing, and troubleshooting, and review the output before it ships.
- Proactive problem-solving. Proactively identify opportunities to improve site performance, tracking, conversion, and development efficiency. Research solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and recommend what OnPay should do next rather than waiting for a request.
What You Bring
- Standalone owner. You are comfortable owning the website and its infrastructure. You investigate first, make the technical call, and come back with a recommendation and the specific decisions you need.
- Fast and reliable. You turn basic requests around quickly, say early when something will take longer, and do not let simple tasks sit.
- Strong developer. You write clean, well-tested code and can build from a clear goal without a detailed spec.
- Growth-minded and analytical. You understand that tracking and testing exist to improve acquisition and conversion, and you can read results and tell when data looks wrong.
- Detail-oriented. You catch the duplicate event, the broken tag, the missing alt text, and the form that does not pass a field.
- Collaborative communicator. You balance requests from several teams, explain what is live and what is blocked in plain language, and work well with Analytics, RevOps, Content, and agencies.
- AI-forward. You use AI and automation to build, test, and debug faster, and you check the output before it ships.
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of web development experience, ideally owning a marketing website in a B2B SaaS company.
- Strong proficiency with HTML, CSS or SCSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, and experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React.
- WordPress experience, including custom themes, Gutenberg blocks, and plugins. Advanced Custom Fields experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience implementing tracking with Google Tag Manager and GA4, including pixels, conversion events, and a data layer.
- Experience setting up, QAing, and launching A/B and multivariate tests on a platform such as VWO or Optimizely, and a working understanding of CRO.
- Experience building custom code and integrations in HubSpot, Zapier, or similar automation platforms.
- Experience with WCAG accessibility, Core Web Vitals, website performance, and website security.
- Understanding of SEO best practices and how site structure and schema affect search and AI discovery.
- Experience using AI tools to accelerate development, QA, testing, debugging, or automation.
- A portfolio or examples of websites, tools, experiments, or integrations you personally built and the results they produced.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
