About this role
We are looking for an Estimator to develop accurate cost estimates and competitive bids for Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) projects in a specialty construction subcontracting environment. AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client serving advanced manufacturing, mission-critical, and industrial construction markets. This role will take direct ownership of quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, and bid preparation to support profitable project acquisition. Candidates based in Knoxville or East Tennessee are preferred, but remote work or relocation may be considered for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bids for commercial and industrial projects involving Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) systems.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope, material requirements, and installation details.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, and installation costs.
- Develop complete bid proposals with accurate pricing, scope inclusions, exclusions, and project assumptions.
- Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and project-specific requirements that may affect estimate accuracy or profitability.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations to validate material pricing and support competitive bids.
- Communicate with general contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify project requirements and resolve estimating questions.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, cost documentation, and bid submissions while meeting deadlines.
- Review completed estimates for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project drawings and specifications.
Requirements
- 3–7 years of construction estimating experience, with 3–5 years of direct Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) estimating experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience independently preparing complete estimates, performing quantity takeoffs, and submitting competitive bids.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing, mission-critical facilities, or industrial construction projects preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and bid documents.
- Hands-on experience calculating labor, material, and installation costs for commercial or industrial construction.
- Familiarity with construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel or comparable estimating tools.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Direct estimating ownership is required; candidates whose experience is limited to project coordination, material ordering, or estimating support will not be considered a strong fit.

Compensation: $75,000–$105,000 annually, based on experience.
Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plan options, paid time off, and other company-sponsored programs.
